Philadelphia based percussionist. Born in Germany to Turkish and Syrian parents, Nezih Antakli started playing the guitar at the age of 15 and a few years later he discovered his love for percussion. Since then he has been studying percussion traditions of various styles. In 1999 he moved to the Netherlands, where he brought his studies to a deeper level at the World Music department of the Rotterdam Conservatory for Music and Dance, where he graduated in 2004. There he got in touch with different music traditions like Latin and African music, Eastern European and Middle Eastern music, flamenco, Klezmer, jazz, pop, fusion and electronic experimental music. His versatility has led him to perform and record with groups like GAAT, Ot Azoj Klezmerband, Barrio Latino La Banda, Neco Novellas, Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble, Etnosaraj, Tino Trimo, Petra, Strada, Sabor Flamenco, The Almosts, including performances on all major festivals in the Netherlands and performances throughout Europe, Mexico and the USA.
