2007 marks a decade
of collaboration for Antara
& Delilah. During the past 10 years, Antara & Delilah's emergence
as strong singer-songwriters and performers have earned them a celebrated place
in the Santa Barbara, California music scene. The duo&8217;s original songs
include wry observations about love relationships, meditations on life's lessons
and earnest expressions of hope. Such themes run through their newest release,
Red Barn Sessions. Antara & Delilah recorded seven of the songs on Red
Barn Sessions in the Ojai, California studio of the band Shades
of Day, who provided instrumentation and some vocals by singer
Brendan James. Another song, Louann, was recorded by Santa Barbara recording
legend Robinson Eikenberry and features Antara backed by multi-instrumentalist
Kenny
Edwards (Karla Bonoff, Bryndle, the Stone Ponies).
Digitally released in 2007, all songs from Red Barn Session are (or will be
very soon) available to download at major digital download sites.
Antara & Delilah were brought together at songwriter's workshop 1997 by
Jim Messina
(Poco, Buffalo Springfield, Loggins & Messina) who suggested their voices
were complimentary. In time, the ladies blended flavors of folk, bluegrass,
country and pop to discover their sound: bold vocal harmonies, guitars and a
dash of mandolin. Antara & Delilah were voted Favorite Local Band five years
in a row by Santa Barbara News-Press readers poll. Three songs from their CD
From Here (2002) have been included on the Party of Five and Joan of
Arcadia DVD releases (Sony Pictures). Since 2003, Antara & Delilah have
joined Messina to form the Jim Messina Acoustic Trio, performing throughout
the U.S. to packed houses. Antara & Delilah have also provided backing vocals
for performances by Jackson Browne, Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, Kenny
Loggins, Richie Furay and Graham Nash.
