Influences
Dada, Psychedelics, Situationism, and the completely absurd. We are also profoundly influenced by All Recorded History.
What we like: all those who've picked up an instrument they couldn't play and made a glorious sound or noise with it - and there's too many of those to mention.
DJ2 lives in Melbourne at the newest branch of the Potential Fossil Assemblage. He creates sculpture, does installations, and runs Melbourne's smallest gallery - Microscope. Also performs/records as '2 Rabbits'.
DJ3 lives in Melbourne at the Potential Fossil Assemblage HQ. She is a poet and pro bono licensed PI. She creates assemblages and collages. She is also DataCorrupt.
....you may just lose your mind if you let us at it and the environment is conducive....
Start Transmission Special Projects is the label we created in 2000 to release our stuff. We have a habit of breaking laws and violating certain codes, so it'd take a brave label (and there have been a few, to give them credit) to want a relationship with us. However, if you are a label and are interested, we do sign indemnity clauses.
As for the blog... We won't be posting shit every day, but hey - forgive us - we're probably just stoned somewhere, playing no-limit Texas hold'em and making juvenille quips and wisecracks, lamenting the sorry state of the world and trying to inject a little LOVE into all we meet. Either that or we're breaking up yet another disorganised meeting of the Zero Workers Disassociation. There is a also a slim chance we're recording stuff for our album due out in June or so.
Truth is I'm probably lying in my king-size bed eating bon-bons and watching Columbo as you read this.

Antediluvian Rocking Horse have been "Letting the Left Hand Know What the Right Hand is Doing Since 1994."
ARH are two post neo-situationist dada-drunk artists who are quite adept at sewing together a funky little ditty out of the delicious slew of global sonic detritus we're swimmin' in.
ARH became the first international act on Negativland's Seeland label with their album "Music for the Odd Occasion". It was named Best Electronic Album in the May 1997 edition of Electronic Musician magazine and scored four out of five stars in Alternative Press magazine. Such promise! Such excitement !
Since then, they've managed to get their act together long enough to put out a record every four years or so. They've released music in the USA, UK, Australia, Japan, Finland, Greece, Italy, and Russia.
But they've been busy, ARH has played over 750+ beer-soaked, bourbon-logged, acid-dripping gigs, from clubs and pubs in Australia, the US, and Japan to regular appearances at What Is Music? Festival and the improbable infiltration of events like Vibes on a Summer's Day, The Falls Festival, and The Big Day Out.
"a kind of surreal technology poem, encompassing the rhythms and noise of our everyday experience." (CMJ)
"ripping the stuffing out of the underground scene and borrowing cues from the irreverent humour of Coldcut, ARH is the promising face of Australia's dance future...if their intelligent barrage of editing-room sweepings and pelvis-friendly grooves can upset the clubland hedgemony of disco rejects and clunky house castoffs, then Wain and King- and programming magus Ollie Olsen - can join Jack Dangers in storming the studio." (Magnet)
"If confusion is sex, as Sonic Youth once posited, then Odd Occasion is an orgy.....kookiness that doesn't grate - amazing." (Alternative Press)
Buy Our CDs!
STSP Shop Amazon(you can sometimes get a used "Music for the Odd Occasion" CD from $5.79 - this is probably the cheapest option for our US friends - but be warned - we've seen some ridiculous prices here. It may be 'rare', it's certainly priceless, but it would upset us to think anyone paid too much for it)

RICHMOND MUSIC JOURNAL (VA, US): Is that a snow blower in your pocket, or are you just after all my money? Get up! I feel like being the FAX MACHINE! Wanna jump, shout, work it on out, oh baby! Okee- dokee, Mr. Cartwright, Boss Man!! See Well, Buddy Holly was reincarnated as a dirigible pilot with five kids who all turned out queer...and they made this record after being locked in a room and having their privates smeared with Crisco and they were forced to watch "Bachelor Father", "Leave It to Beaver", and "The Secret Storm" for 11,000 consecutive hours while eating Mallo-Cups and saving the worthless SQUARE coupons (now, when I was a kid, you could save 5000 points and get a FREE BOX, and who couldn't use one of those?), and then the preacher's wife who taught who knows WHAT in high school smacked me on the face for using a yo-yo while I was earning value points working in the school candy store....but that's a different story. Well, no, not really, this record is just like that. This outfit are touted as the Aussie counterpart to Negativland, and it's not a big stretch. They punch like Ali and they move into your head and refuse ever to leave, and they invite all their friends in as well. NO....I got on a tangent there! THEY ARE on Seeland, Negativland's US label, but the resemblance is like Edward J. Murrow to Dan Rather ... or something. This is one sonic circus, and the highwire artists are always falling off on a spike, the Mongolian Strongman is flat drunk and on the cellular to his agent in Ulan Bator, and the elephants are too smart to parade again with sparkly Star Wars characters on their backs. A real loser's paradise. If I owned the world, I'd make EVERYBODY listen to this. Holy Almighty Christ! This is the Divine Assemblage, wherein dwellest the Beatles, Maurice Chevalir, Buddy Holly, Bertoldt Brecht, and Little Joe Cartwright as well as Pepino from "The Real Mc Coys".... with savoury backmasking, technobeatoffs all over your carpet...and....well. No need to ramble on THAT! Except the backmasked yodelling, over the breakneck technobeating... Beezlebonanza... and I LOVE the "secret" intepretation of "A Love Supreme". With songs like "The Premier Needs Protection", " A Perry Mason Moment", and "Whatever Happened to the People With Chairs Up Their Noses?" how can you win, lose, or even play the game? Go play , chillun! --- William Burke
