Nouvelle Vague's rework
After the huge success of Antena "Camino Del Sol" Joakim/Todd Terje Mixes, which was played by nearly every big DJ on this planet, Permanent Vacation is going in the second round of Antena remixes with Belgium's Disco Devil (in DFA style), Nouvelle Vague, Lexx (aka Kawabata / Bear Funk, Drumpoet) & the cosmic Italo trio Phreek Plus One (Compost) on the controls. First up is Nouvelle Vague, there is of course no need to introduce them simply everybody who cares just a little bit about music knows them. Marc Collin, the head of Nouvelle Vague, has declared himself as a big fan of Antena - their music was a massive inspiration of the Nouvelle Vague sound. NV transport Frantz into a deep and moody cinematic soundscape, slightly reminiscent of Ennio Morricone, but still in their typical style. Next is our man Lexx from Zürich, Switzerland. He caused quite a buzz with 12?s for Bearfunk and Drumpoet in 2006. He is morphing "Bye Bye Papaye" into an excellent and elegant afrobossadub by keeping the relaxed atmosphere of the original version. Then we have Phreek Plus One, the original cosmic warriors from Italy, who have contributed to Compost's black label series with two outstanding EPs. They remix Achilles, the track that has been played to death from Baldelli and Loda and all the other cosmic inventors. They dedicate their remix to the legendary Typhoon club with a deep cosmic journey which could easily pass for an original recording from the mid 80's. Last we have the Disco Devils, two diamonds in the raw from Belgium being famous for their disco edits. The boys chose "On The Boat", the only real uptempo track from the "Camino Del Sol" album, transforming it into a real dancefloor bomb in the vein of recent DFA productions.
