Often just little old me, although I love collaborating with my talented musical friends as well. I'd like to thank Annie Pilgrem in particular for her beautiful cello playing.
I also perform with my husband Matt, in our duo Inimitable Dragonfly - www.myspace.com/inimitabledragonfly
Wildly varied, but here's a selection... Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Duke Spirit, Ginger, Dresden Dolls, Eva Cassidy, Susie Clarke, Martha Tilston, Anna Tabbush, Beth Orton, Joni Mitchell, Velvet Underground... that's just a small selection of the many artists that have moved and influenced me. What I listen to depends very much on my mood. As a saxophonist I also love music with a jazz or blues flavour, and any music where the sax is played beautifully. In an artist I look for emotional honesty, beauty, desperation, openess, passion, and energy - and I hope these are the qualities that come across in my own song-writing and performance.

I don't know the answer to this one - but hopefully distinctively me!
Hi, my name's Anthea and I've been singing ever since I can remember and writing songs for about 13 years. Song-writing has got me through some of the really hard times and the songs that came out of those are very dear to me.
My songs are mostly about expressing myself - whether it's how I'm feeling at the time or how I think other people are feeling in a certain situation. I think I'm quite an empathetic person and I hope that comes across in my music.
I don't know what genre my music is - I play piano as well as guitar, and my guitar songs are generally a very different style to my piano ones. My influences are hugely varied.
Here's some recordings of my songs - very rough demos recorded at home, but I hope they give an idea of what my music's about. Please come and see me play live if you'd like to hear more, and come and talk to me at the gig - I love meeting new people! Or send me a friend request and become a myspace friend.
Thanks for checking out my page, and stop by again soon. Please also feel free to e-mail me at antheaneads@googlemail.com if you want to get in touch or join my e-mail mailing list.

Here are some extracts from reviews of my songs on www.slicethepie.com:

"the vocals are simply breath taking very professional, alot of potential and exactly what you want for a nice mellow acoustic song. 8/10"
"The vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart - this you will build your life by, and this you will become. 8/10"
Simple Pleasures:
"I really enjoyed listening to this song, its ample and angelical, pure and great. 9/10"
"her vocals are so tender & beautiful. overall: a good song by a talented performer. 8/10"

Sweet Anthea, thank you for your lovely enquiries. I have posted a new blog and bulletin about the launch which was a blast. The album is available on my page or at http://www. mirandabarber. com/listen. html now. Tunecore managed to f&*k it up at the end so the online release has been delayed. So tedious i am letting other people sort out the incompetence. Mind boggles.
Hey there, bad news guys, I'm afraid. Due to a monumental crossing of le wires the man on the moon open mic will NOT be happening. This does mean that if you're itching to play then your only chance is at the social centre so maybe you should contact Mani for details... yeah? yeah. Sorry about the confusion there I guess we'll just see you on thurs! haha. Steph and Mani myspace. com/stephbrownmusic
Hey there guys!!! How are you all? Just the normal reminder coming out that the open mic at the man on the moon will be next tuesday (24th) and we would LOVE for you all to be there. ALSO, the social centre on mill road is having an open mic this thursday (19th) and it would be wicked if you could all be there for that one too... Those of you that were there last time know it's a pretty relaxed affair, if you turn up then you can play and if nobody plays then... well, we'll all just get drunk instead. What can go wrong, eh? But yes, if you're there then you can even get a SPECIAL hug from Mani. Not just any hug, but a SPECIAL one. As long as you can guess the SPECIAL password. Oh also, Mani will no longer be absent from the MOTM open mic as was first thought. Thank God, eh? Alas, Steph-o will. But we can weep for her later. Right! See you there, I hope! Mucho love-o Steph and Mani myspace. com/stephbrownmusic xxxxxxxx
Hey guys... three things. 1. Thanks to all of you that made the open mic wicked the other night, I hope you all enjoyed youselves too... 2. TONIGHT we are holding an open mic at a social centre squat.. announcements were made but none of you fuckers ever listen. It starts at 7 and you get in around the back which is down sedgewick street. Which is on mill road OVER the bridge. If you get to the coop you've gone too far. So please come and show your support for the fact that Tesco ARENT in the building. 3. On friday Fynan is playing a gig at the Boathouse.. Or whatever the one next to the barfly is, I always get confused... I don't know what time or how much but you should all go. He was the passionate man on the guitar on tues. YEAH, that's it. I need to eat something. Until the next time!!! Steph Brown...and Mani x
