Anthem Of The Arts | Booking NOW looking for bands to play December 18th or 19th in Waverly, NY - message for details Posted at 7:22 PM Nov 14 view more
Anthem of the Arts was formed by Sarah Flenders & Lizzei Crews on April 27th 2008 to help raise money for charities through music. It started with a project given by their English teacher, Ms. McMahon, challenging the class of 2010 to change the world. Sarah Flenders and Lizzei Crews were the hosts of the show and it was called Save the Music, Change the World. and it raised over $900 for the Save The Music Foundation. The students then found out how much fun (and work) can be involved in setting up concerts, so they decided to keep this going and name it Anthem of the Arts. This is a student-run organization, proving that students can change the world.
The Anthem of the Arts myspace wasn't created just for concerts Sarah and Lizzei are holding. It was created for all concerts or actives locally that are non profit. Having this site also makes it easier for bands to play at free gigs and get some publicity. If the concerts posted lets bands sell merch, then it will also be posted for the bands. If you know of a concert coming up that isn't on this myspace, or if you are planning to host a concert let us know!
Remember, our crazy English teacher didn't only ask us to change the world - she challenged an entire group of sophomores - and she does this every year with all of her students. Kids in Sayre High are changing their minds, themselves, and their world. But just because we got grades for changing the world - doesn't mean we stopped. We haven't, Kim hasn't - and I'd like to say that no one has. What I do know for sure is that anything is possible at whatever age. This is where you take a stand for what you believe in. Join a cause, start a movement, or even just donate your time to something or someone that needs it the most. <3
Starting on June 29th, Kimberly Firestine will be taking orders for bracelets by Invisible Children. The bracelets are $20, but along with that you get a DVD of the child in which the bracelet represents. To see which child each bracelet represents, and learn more about Invisible Children, visit this blog. To Order: go down to our top friends, click on Kimberly, and send her a message or comment. If you have her AIM SN, then you can also message her there for more info 8]
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who wants to keep music alive.
