About Anthem Records NL

Anthem Records NL
Anthem Records NL is an independent label founded by Dutch guitarist Ronald Bleys. It is named after his first band Anthem (1978-1983). When Anthem disbanded the association Anthem continued and was used to accommodate Ronald's music projects.

One of the activities of the association was starting a record label. The initial name of the label was "Anthem Records". To avoid confusion with the Canadian label carrying the name "Anthem Records Inc." NL was added resulting in "Anthem Records NL".

The label's first release was the 1986 Accidental Gap single "The Eyes of K" b/w "Moving Dangerously" (7" vinyl). Other releases comprise the complete Maida Vale CD catalogue (2 albums and 1 EP) and the "Ferocity and Femininity" compilation CD, featuring 15 of the finest female fronted metal bands from around the globe and released in July 2008. All CDs are stocked by the Femme Metal Store.

Future releases have not yet been planned but there is no doubt that the activities of Anthem Records NL continue.

Ferocity and Femininity
The label's latest release (2008) is a compilation CD with 15 female fronted metal bands. The CD, entitled "Ferocity and Femininity" features bands from the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Norway and the Netherlands. The CD was compiled and produced in the US by David Melanson. "Ferocity and Femininity" is sold through a.o. the Femme Metal Store and Amazon.co.uk for £ 5,99. The profits will eventually go to Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK. The sample in the player has short snippets of all bands and was compiled by David Melanson.

Ferocity and Femininity is available at the Femme Metal Store. Finnish femme metal fan Ene made this beautiful promotion video for the CD.

Latest news
Thanks to Carrie Sharp of Femme Metal Records the Ferocity and Femininity CD will be distributed throughout the UK by Code 7 via Plastic Head March 2nd 2009.
