Family and in no other particular order... hanging out with friends when I have time, my career/hobby (reptiles), watching a little MMA (UFC, etc.). I can't afford too many more hobbies (the last one led to all this shit. lol)
I'm a total car nut, but it's not a hobby...heck, give me a nice car that I like and I'll drive it for five years. I really like boxing (although I watch less and less these days), playing baseball or being at a game (but not on TV), I really dig sushi, traveling is another thing I enjoy (although it stresses me out with all the animals). I also really like learning stuff now...again, not something I expected to happen. :) I also like clothes and shoes....but don't get the wrong idea, I likes the ladies (crazy as some of you may be).
Music
I'll listen to literally anything as long as I just like it...although I have to say, I'm not so much into hip-hop/rap anymore. Not sure if it's because I don't like the newer stuff or I'm just growing out of that. Some that come to mind include Gnarls Barkley, HUGE Wyclef Jean fan, Prince, Buck Cherry, Dave Matthews Band (the band itself is amazing), Mickey Avalon (although I feel dirty for listening), Outkast, George Clinton/Parliament, Pearl Jam, Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Metallica, Lynard Skynard, NIN, Motley Crue, Stone Temple Pilots, Tiesto, Rob Zombie, Tupac and Biggie (liked them even before they were dead), Nelly, Tim McGraw, 50 cent (there's a deeper theme than most people realize), Journey, Paul Oakenfold, Bob Marley (and Ziggy), Barrington Levy...and some random/obscure artists that most people have never heard of. I've even learned to appreciate some seriously obnoxious heavy metal...didn't really expect that to happen in my 30's. :)
Movies
Pretty much all the classics from Johnny Depp, Robert Deniro, Al Pacino, Adam Sandler...lots more I can't remember. Some favorites are A Bronx Tale, Blow (great true story), The Godfather(s), Goodfellas, Casino, Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin, Old School, Scarface, any Cheech & Chong movie, Blue Streak, Crash, anything Adam Sandler, Troy, 300, Braveheart, Forest Gu-ump, The Goonies. I really like a lot of the stuff Seth Rogen, Steve Carell and a lot of Will Ferrell's stuff (not so much him, but his little clique of actors are great).
Television
Chapelle's Show (bring it back!)...Dave is the funniest man on earth, period. I like a lot of HBO and Showtime series. I'm a big nerd too...so I like some of the stuff on History channel, A&E, Discovery, etc. Alien encounters and paranormal weirdness...sign me up. I also keep the news on in the background while I'm working...gotta know what's going on in the world (like it or not).
Books
Don't really have time to read for fun...mostly just business and/or reptile related books. There is an awesome autobiography I just read recently, though...it's about child soldiers in Africa. Check out my blog post about it.
Speaking of books...recently signed a contract to write my first book. It will be about 300 +/- pages, hard cover...about the New Caledonian crested gecko. It's essentially the most popular pet gecko (amazing considering they were supposedly extinct until 1994) and needless to say, there's an awesome story behind them. The book will be published by ECO Publishing, hopefully to be released sometime in 2009....maybe 2010. This is going to be something totally different than what the industry thinks makes a good reptile book. :) Contracts are signed and writing/photography is probably about 50% done so far. Writing a book is pretty much a bitch. Fortunately I enjoy what I do, so it'll get done. :)

I probably have a different definition of the word hero than most. There are only a couple people who I consider heroes....most likely no one you've ever heard of. More ambiguity anyone?

So...after running into 50 people I haven't seen in years and telling them I'm too lazy to put up a page here, here I am. I just recently moved from Blue Springs to Downtown KC into a sweet loft right across the street from the City Market. We just literally open the windows or go outside to listen to the concerts (which end at 11pm thank God!). It also doesn't suck to have fresh produce, Indian food, Persian food, sushi, Chinese, pizza, Winslow's BBQ, two Asian markets, an Italian deli (and probably ten other restaurants) all within walking distance.
For those of you who I haven't talked to in years or those who don't know me, I worked for Gateway (computers) from 1999 to late 2004 and I've been self employed ever since. I learned a lot in the corporate world, but I always wanted to start my own business and do something out of the ordinary...even as a kid, I knew that was the path I'd eventually take. I finally worked up the nerve to go into business for myself a couple years ago. I started a graphic design/multimedia business and did really well, but as I made more money, I spent more on my lifelong hobby (keeping reptiles). With the reptiles came breeding them and then came selling the babies. That's where things got interesting...I was so passionate about the reptiles and selling them on the internet was easy for me (websites were my career) that it quickly became successful enough that I had to make a decision...cut back on the reptiles and focus on my other business or go full-time reptiles. So now I make a living breeding and selling pythons and geckos with rare colors and patterns...basically the same thing I'd be doing if I didn't have to work at all. Sounds crazy (especially if you know anything about business) but it's the best job in the world for me.
