Anthony Stanco is a rising talent in today's music scene. Anthony's trumpet playing is diverse and his compositions are influenced by many different musical genres. Currently he is performing and teaching in New York City as he pursues his bachelor's degree at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music.
Anthony Stanco started playing trumpet in the fifth grade in the Fraser public school system. His musical education was elevated when he joined the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra and Civic Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Marcus Belgrave and Rodney Whitaker. In the summers of 2006 and 2007 Anthony received a full scholarship to attend the Stanford Jazz Residency Program where he performed in the top jazz combo and studied with jazz greats Jimmy Heath and Lee Konitz.
Anthony has been working as a freelance musician in the Detroit area for several years. His professional work has consisted of concerts, workshops, and studio sessions. He performed as a leader at the 2006 Birmingham Jazz Festival with his quintet and at the 2007 Detroit Jazz Festival with the Civic Jazz Orchestra Quintet. Anthony was also selected as the top high school soloist during the 2007 Detroit Jazz Festival for his performance with the Fraser Jazz Ensemble.
