About me:

Tracing the journey of Pete and Carl from their first encounter up to completion of 'Down In Albion' and the launch of Dirty Pretty Things, THE LIBERTINES: BOUND TOGETHER features exclusive unseen interviews with every member of The Libertines and all of Peter and Carl's closest friends and associates.

It has 100+ high quality photos by the band's photographer of choice Roger Sargent.

OUT NOW: Click to order from Amazon and get a hefty discount of up to 40%...if you're quick

The author, Anthony Thornton, has known the band since 2002 and has witnessed every important concert. This is the inside story of the pair's battling relationship from a journalist with unique access.

Anthony would like to take the opportunity to thank the following people who he interviewed during the course of writing this book:

Peter Doherty, Carl Barat, John Hassall, Gary Powell, Paul DuFour (aka Mr Razzcocks), Mick Jones, Banny Pooschti, Jake Fior, Andy Lee, Roger Morton, Andy Fraser, Dean Fragile, Kirsty Wark, Paul Brownell, Alan McGee, Kirsty Ridout, Kirsty Want, Kirsten Lynn, Tony Linkin, James Endeacott, Geoff Travis, Jeanette Lee, Jim Merlis, Hedi Slimane

Reviews

One of 50 Hot Books For The Summer
So is Pete Doherty just a druggie fame-seeker who happened to go out with Kate Moss? Thornton has written a whole book to prove otherwise, with gorgeous accompanying pictures by Roger Sargent. A good, respectful account of the artistic project of Messrs Barât and Doherty, and an insight into the wider movement of disaffected youth of which they were a part.
The Independent On Sunday

Bound Together reads like a great thriller, yet has moments - like an exceptional passage on an impromptu Doherty gig in Chelsea that helped split the band - that evoke the poetry, courage and optimism that surrounded Doherty at his best
Q**** Recommended

[Sargent's] shots reclaim the band from the tabloids' caricature portrayal and stand as a fine testament to their rebellious, joyous, yet ultimately destructive Arcadian dream. Anthony Thornton's accompanying text is equally enrapturing.
Mojo ****

An intelligent and pacy exploration of a musical phenomenon
The Independent

...the story of the band and the fallout from their split is recorded in intimate detail. Thornton and Sargent, with full access to the battling frontmen, had a unique insight into their complex relationship
Uncut

A nicely produced book...Thornton's intention is to give a good, respectful account of the artistic project of Barat and Doherty, and in this the book is a success.
Independent On Sunday 19 March 2006

Critic's number one book of the week
Independent On Sunday 26 March 2006

Writer Thornton and photographer Sargent really were on the spot (be it the van, the pub, the East End squat or the dressing room) while most of the squalid Libertines saga went down, capturing the queasy zigzags of the bands career.
Sunday Times

Pete Doherty and Carl Barat fans should check out a new history of The Libertines, called Bound Together. After a couple of poor books on Pete this is the first I can recommend.
The Sun

The photographs twll the story as movingly as any text possibly could....What's surprising especially for me - who couldn't give a monkey's about Peter 'n' bloody Carl - is just how involving the book actually is... [it's] driven by a literate, witty narration... hugely entertaining.

Glasgow is grand thanks... keeping busy working a lot, and going out even more. Having a break from all that for a few days thanks to getting ill from doing too much, but its probably more than needed!

What have you been upto lately? How's everyone down your way? The Kirstys? Next time I'm down in London for more than 12 hours (got a brief visit on the 31st, DJing at a club called The Acid Gallery), I'll see what your all upto and try and catch up for a drink. Would be nice to see you all again.

I loved your book, read it twice. It's a compelling story with fascinating "characters", but that might have been lost had you not told it so well and written so gracefully. Thank you!
