We've had our fill of poseurs, mediocrity and overhyped karaoke singers.
Philadelphia, ANTIIDOL has been created to celebrate, promote and focus on OUR OWN original, musical talent. It is also a reminder that artists should be experienced live ~ not on TV ~ performing their own art.
Finally, it is an invitation for people to clap and shout and scream and dance ~ not dial a phone number ~ when they have an actual response to a performance.
Bands and artists, contact us immediately to get involved.
And everyone should feel welcome to come out to Club 218 on Tuesday evenings to support some of Philadelphia's finest artists.
How else can we stop the lameness that they try to call music on that particularly lame Fox network karaoke show?
Just tell me. How else?
american idol is not art. Nor is it entertaining... (a decent critique)

And the Fox Network is even worse.
Thoughts on American Idol:
These people are being nominated for Grammy awards, and they're not even writing their own material... It's a joke. Most of the people that go on the show probably don't have any desire to create new music. STOP THE LAMENESS.
Just stop it.
HOW ANTIIDOL WORKS
The semifinal rounds of ANTIIDOL will take place at Club 218 on:
Saturday, August 5th,
Friday, August 11th, and
Saturday, September 16th.
All shows are 21+ and have a $7 cover charge. Each band participating must have a minimum of 10 people attend and pay to see them play in order to qualify for advancement. No exceptions. Bands will be paid for each person they bring after their first 12 admissions.
PREVIOUS SCORES DO NOT MATTER FOR THIS ROUND The slate has been wiped clean for the new round.
Artists/Bands get 30minute showcase sets.
Set times are 9:45pm, 10:30pm, 11:20pm and 12:10am.
Judging takes place after 2 bands perform.
Two judges award 1-10 points each in the following categories:
ORIGINALITY/SHOWMANSHIP
MUSICAL ABILITY
(Quality of) SONGS
Just before the judges' scores are announced, the audience will be asked to participate in the scoring process. A bonus point will be assigned to one of the two bands being judged based upon ANTIIDOL's classic audience response criteria. Basically, at the host's urging, the band that inspires the crowd to cheer loudest, wildest and longest gets a bonus point added to their score. As the contest is often close, this sometimes proves to be a critical factor during the shows...
For the ANTIIDOL semifinals, there will be the chance to earn two additional half point bonuses. Bands who have worked very hard to develop and maintain a following will be rewarded in the following manner:
Bands bringing 25 paid people will get a bonus half point added to their critical scores.
Bands bringing 50 paid people will get an additional bonus half point added to their total score.
Echo Studios, Sweet Creek Studios and Columbus Studios are sponsoring this event, providing recording time, rehearsal time, CD duplication, stickers and tee shirt printing for the top three scoring bands.
Representatives of Echo Studios, Sweet Creek Studios and Origivation Magazine will be judging the semifinal rounds.
Simply put, we are going to propel some of the most talented bands in the Philadelphia region forward into greater success.
