Antifolk is a rediscovery of the ethics behind songwriting and its performance and a reaction against rigidity and conservatism in music, providing a platform for some of the most innovative, imaginative and unusual songwriters from London and beyond to find an audience.
Antifolk UK (AFUK) was formed in 2004 by Filthy Pedro who was enthused by a visit to New
York (where antifolk began) and wanted to put on a UK music night with a similar DIY ethic and community feel.
Numerous Antifolk Festivals later, Antifolk UK has become a supportive community of musicians who perform regularly together, appear in others backing bands and help each other to find gigs through other promoters.
UK Antifolk has now also spread beyond London with Brighton also having its own strong antifolk scene.

Luke Lukas is back with an album full of that gleeful gloom that made us love him at first sight. His trustworthy 4-tracks and him go their separate ways so he's now presenting 12 perfectly arranged folk songs to us. Luke reveals himself as a kind soul, but like the western movies taught us, a dreadful killer always hides under every placid looking Texan.
"Leaving his strongly lo-fi sound that impressed us the first time, he treasures the recipe, packing in this new plain, delightful work a caring love for vocals, which are worthy of Neutral Milk hotel, with a touch of Chordettes feel."Daniele Dileo - Lab Magazine
