Endorsements abound. Antigone's previous efforts as Etherfox were lauded by Pete Tong, Norman Jay and The Shapeshifters. Now the heralded disco diva is launching a fabulous new solo project out of London.
Her discolicious debut single 'More Man Than Man', produced and remixed by Etherfox's Shave, is getting discerning DJ's whirledwide hot under the collar.
Clearly it's fast becoming a serious contender for summer anthem of 2008 (see DJ reactions to your left). Do you dare not to put your hands in the air?

Antigone is probably the best singer
you’ve never heard.
We know you’re busy with your MySpace and Facebook and Crackberry, so we’ve set the reading pace of this document to ‘Really Fast.’ You’ll need a soundtrack as you read, of course. May we aggressively suggest the player above.
1. She is not another myspace ‘unknown’.
Uh-uh. Antigone’s written and featured on records by the Shapeshifters. She's sung and co-written underground club classics like ’The Bass has Got Me Movin’’ and others with Fat Boy Slim faves [love] tattoo. Her house duo Etherfox have released a few 12” stompers in the noughties through Ministry of Sound and Shapeshifter imprint Nocturnal Groove (‘The Whirled You Live’ and ‘Something Different to Say’). Needless to say, with a voice like hers, both tracks seduced Ibiza, charted, and then landed neatly on phat comps like Hed Kandi’s Beach House. Antigone also dabbles with featuring on the odd film score, because she can.
2. She’s not Lily, Amy or Kylie.
Bah! You can keep your angst and your sucrose. Antigone is the real deal. She’s classically trained in voice and piano. She arrives at her solo career with a vibrant palette under her arm: jazz, western classical, underground electronica, disco, funk - even Indian classical music informs her vocal stylings!
And her rigorous academic background – a first no less, darlings – betrays an intellect in her songwriting beyond the comprehension of most of her contemporaries. If you must place her, then slot her in with Alison, Roisin and Imogen, please. And if you ignored our suggestion above (foolish), treat your apricots now to the brand new tunes upstairs.
3. But she is More Man than Man.
That's right. Not literally of course - a mere glance at Antigone's portrait confirms her superior feminine attributes. But her really very fine forthcoming single 'More Man Than Man' marks her fabulous return to the dance floor with quite a carnivorous message indeed: female desire can, and frequently does, rival that of a man's.
4. And she has one fierce debut album in her clutch.
It’s called Antigone Land, and it’s really, really excellent. Really! This is a bold, brazen collection of strong, sexy songs, all self-penned of course. Here stride a phalanx of strong impeccably dressed women through the full spectrum of the electronic rainbow. From funky burlesque to effervescent disco, and haunted house to cinematic spoken word, this is one hell of a catwalk.
Think a coutured night out in Antigone Land. The soundtrack to the ’pre-loading’. The chair dancing. The frantic shape throwing. The seduction on the dance floor. The enactment off the dance floor. And finally, the sensuous caresses into the morning light...
