Fusing contemporary alternative sounds with an evoking sense of melody, Antistatic's unique brand of modern rock has established them as one of the most hardworking and promising names in the WA scene.
The Perth three piece completed recording the follow up EP to their debut release, "Still Life Portrait", in April 2006 at Melbourne's prolific Sing Sing Studios. Released nationally in July through Sic Squared Records and MGM, "Stand Up in Disguise" is a matured, intelligent and focused effort that ranks the band alongside their peers in contemporary Australian rock.
After a successful 2006 which saw them undertake a 14-date national tour alongside fellow Perth rockers Karnivool and being selected by Triple J radio as one of only three W.A. “Next Crop” artists for the station’s Ausmusic month, Antistatic are gearing up to hit the road again in support of their latest single, "The Coping Mechanism".
“The Coping Mechanism” is the second single to be lifted from the “Stand Up In Disguise” release, which has been described as an “impassioned attack against the walls of contemporary alternative rock” (Drum Media Sydney) while Beat magazine’s Justin Donnelly claims it is “another well-crafted effort for one of Perth’s finest exports.”
2007 shows no signs of Antistatic slowing down, opening for US heavyweights Stone Sour and playing a string of successful headlining shows throughout WA. In June the boys head to Sydney to perform with the likes of Grinspoon and Cog at the Come Together festival, before returning home to share the stage with Behind Crimson Eyes and American rockers He Is Legend.
