Antonio Miguel, contrabajista, bajista eléctrico y compositor, comienza a tocar el bajo eléctrico a los 16 años, cuando su padre le enseña sus primeras lecciones en Zaragoza, su ciudad natal. Pronto toca en grupos locales como El Alquimista, en el que graba su primer CD. 3 años más tarde comienza a estudiar contrabajo clásico en el Conservatorio Profesional de Zaragoza.
En 1999, ayudado por una beca del ayuntamiento de su ciudad natal, se traslada a Madrid para continuar sus estudios de música clásica y jazz. Obtiene el Diploma Profesional en Contrabajo y Bajo Eléctrico en la Escuela de Música Creativa.
En el verano de 2004, fue premiado con la beca Tete Montoliu para estudios jazzísticos otorgada por la AIE (Asociación de Intérpretes y Ejecutantes) y con la Joel Scholarship por The City College of New York, que le permitieron trasladarse a Nueva York. Ahí tuvo la oportunidad de tocar junto a grandes del jazz como Dave Liebman, Fred Hersch o John Abercrombie. También asistió a Master Classes de Chick Corea, Christian McBride, Richard Bona y Allan Holdsworth, y estudió con los contrabajistas John Patitucci, Sean Smith y François Moutin.
A lo largo de su carrera Antonio ha tocado con músicos como Paquito D’Rivera, Jerry González, Claudio Roditi, Ben Sidran, Pedro Iturralde, Ximo Tébar, Perico Sambeat, Horacio Icasto y Bob Sands entre otros. También ha acompañado a artistas como Miguel Ríos, El Negri, Carmen París, Concha Buika, Paloma Berganza y Clara Montes.
Sus últimos trabajos incluyen la grabación de los discos de la Orquesta Nacional de Jazz de España, Carita Boronska, Benedikt Janhel Trio, Chema Sáiz Trio, Moisés P. Sánchez Quartet y Grupa Janke Randalu.
Antonio Miguel, acoustic and electric bass player as well as composer, began playing electric bass at the age of sixteen when his father taught him his first music lessons in Zaragoza, his home town in the north of Spain. He soon started playing in local bands, going from rock and pop to funky music, and he made his first recording with a local band called El Alquimista. Three years later he begun playing the acoustic bass attending the Professional Conservatory of Music in his town, where he started studying classical music.
In 1999, helped by a scholaship from his home town city council, he moved to Madrid to continue his classical and jazz studies. He obtained a Diploma in Acoustic and Electric Bass from the Escuela de Musica Creativa.
In the summer of 2004 he was awarded the Tete Montoliu Scholarship by the AIE (performers and musicians association in Madrid) and the Joel Scholarship given by The City College of New York, which allowed him to move to New York to continue improving in his musical career. There he had the chance of playing with the greats David Liebman, Fred Hersch or John Abercrombie. During this period of time he attended master classes by Chick Corea, Christian McBride, Richard Bona and Allan Holdsworth. He studied with the bass players John Patitucci, Sean Smith and François Moutin.
