In 1994 Antonio like many others qued for hours to participate in a National TV contest, out of 800 applicants he made it to the final 36 and ended up winning the contest on a public voting system and became Portugal..s representative for the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest held in Ireland.
Between 1995 and 1998 Antonio participated in various TV shows, worked with various other artists, and various projects including recording voices for Disney and Warner Brothers whilst preparing his first album Alma Nua (Universal Portugal) which was released in 1998. In 2000 the album was released by Emarcy a division of Verve Records. Antonio also recorded a duet with Brazilian mega star, Ivette Sangalo.
In 2000 the record label and Antonio decided to remix the songs of the first album (Alma Nua) and the result was a second album titled Camaleão (Universal Portugal) which added different flavours to the original songs such as R&B/Funk/Hip Hop etc.
In 2003 Antonio released his english debut album self titled Antoniotccruz with an independent record label after taking the decision to move to the United States in 2001. One of his songs which represents him as a person titled Truth and Commitment was pre nominated for the 46th Annual Grammy Awards in the category of Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, an amazing achievement for Antonio. He is currently working on vocal production for different artists and composes music for international & local artists. Antonio is also involved in various other soul and gospel projects. After his release from his former record label (MB Records Inc) he now turns his attention to recording an album of unique soulful inspiration in which he expresses his journey of life through a combination of beautiful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. He believes that his voice and songwriting will touch the hearts of many people and spread love into the world.

O CD tem a participação do Zé Geraldo na música (S.O.S) e tem também uma canção em homenagem ao Maluco Beleza, Raul Seixas (Um Canto Para Raul), Além da música "Essência Oculta" que foi trilha Sonora de um filme do Grande Cineasta Hermano Penna.
