ANUBIS UNBOUND - LOVE, LUST, AND ETERNAL DAMNATION
COPY THE TEXT BELOW TO POST VIDEO ON YOUR OWN PAGE!
"The band has a wickedly biting hard sound that is a mix of black metal and traditional thrash. This mix is technically and melodically sound as a brick wall coming at your skull at 120 mph. Indeed Anubis Unbound is the immovable object of the new metal regime and will be haunting the hallows of metal's halls for quite a long time to come"

INTERESTED IN SIGNING UP FOR OUR MAILING LIST OR STREET TEAM?
Send us an email to anubisunbound@gmail.com stating who you are and if you would like to either be on our mailing list or help out with our street team. Or both! Mailing list members will receive updates on upcoming shows and important Anubis-related news. Street team members will recieve emails about our upcoming shows, and be updated when we have "missions" for them, which usually involves printing out and/or handing out flyers wherever possible. It's not easy to be a local band and we need all the help we can get to promote and get our name out there. Anyone who does help won't go un-appreciated either. Some free stuff (like T-shirts) will be around for those who really help us out alot.

Hailing from Aberdeen, Maryland is possibly one of the most diverse and driven metal bands to grace the Baltimore music scene—Anubis Unbound. A blend of classic and modern metal, confining their music to just one sub-genre of metal/hard rock is a little bit tricky. One song can be hard hitting and dark while the next can be soft and melodic. Every song is crafted, not just written, taking weeks—and some times months—before a single song has been fully realized. Aside from the music, the band takes great pride in their live performance: “when we practice, we do it as though we are playing a show with the head banging and running around and everything,” Ryan says. “We do this because we value our live show almost as much as we do song structure and quality.” Each member considers himself to be a musician as well as a performer. Justin counts one of the goals of the band to be “a must-see performance that anyone of any age can embrace.” This adds to their “something for everyone” philosophy.
Despite the departure of two members and the usually short shelf life of most metal bands in Baltimore, Anubis Unbound has remained a band after four years. “It took a while to become a full band with each member as committed as the next and [to get] everyone unified on stage, making it all come together better than it ever has,” Jarred says. Unification is what this band does best. From the marriage of different aspects of music to synchronized head banging to their friendship, Anubis is probably the band most in sync with each other despite how diverse their personalities and backgrounds can be. Each member brings something different and unique to both the band and each song. “Musically, Brian is our idea man,” Ryan starts, “He is especially good at taking a tune you hum or an idea you speak and translating it onto the guitar... [Jarred] brings to the table a very methodical style of writing... Tony has an ability to put a drum beat to anything you give him be it metal, reggae, funk, whatever. He also writes on guitar and sings and has made many contributions to songs beyond rhythm... Justin uses his lyrics to give the music meaning. Not to mention the fact that his voice is as important an instrument as any other in the band.” “Ryan's background in bass-heavy music such as reggae or funk makes him a unique addition to a metal band such as we are,” states Brian. “Many technical guitar riffs or fills have a very different bass line underneath of them that compliments everything greatly... Ryan is a tone-obsessed man for a good reason.”
Anubis Unbound recently released their first full-length album entitled Through Cursed Eyes. This two-year endeavor exemplifies the band's drive and ability to overcome even the most unfavorable situations. The songs were recorded by a friend of the band and were later picked up and engineered by aFreudianSlip bassist Jeremy Hayes. A short time after, the album was finished without re-recording tracks—which can be a challenge for any engineer—and released in 2008 at a packed show at Bedrock in Downtown Baltimore. The band shows no signs of slowing down, playing some of the premier venues in the city with some of the top metal bands in the area. Even with the local success, the guys are far from complacent. “We are very critical of ourselves,” Tony says, “Some times, a little too much. We like to hear feedback from everyone. The best feedback, in our eyes, is when someone lets us know if we could work on something. It's the only way to get better.” It is this attitude that really sets them apart. With the willingness to evolve and grow as a band, Anubis Unbound will become and remain a forerunner in the metal scene. All they ask for is your attention and an open mind.
