Formed in 1997 under the name Ante Cryst (from the old English language) by original members Wyrm and Hygegeomor, they released one rehearsal/demo tape called "The Gaunt Hill", inspired mainly by bands such as Thorns and Mayhem.
After this recording the band was musically silent, partly due to arguments but mainly due to Wyrm being in prison for a couple of years. However in 2005 Unknown Icon of Emit joined on guitar.
After writing new material, a second rehearsal/demo tape was released called "Malicious".
Due to some personal differences, both Wyrm and Hygegeomor decided to leave the band. Unknown I recruited new members and continued under a new name - anXpm (abbreviated mediaeval Latin for Before Christ).
A four track self-titled EP was recorded during a visit to Sweden in 2006.
