Sounds Like
"At a time when music sounds like it is being produced out of a factory, I urge you to check out Anzaldua. Once your ears take in the sound you will be hooked on something unlike anything the factories can produce."
--Daylon from KLSM 104.5FM ........................................................
"What I appreciate the most is originality. Hard to find these days. Anzaldua as they progress, could be a group many should discover."
--Jonathan L-The Lopsided World of L-KUPD 97.9FM
Enter Anzaldua
"This is what the underground sounds like. Finally, a rock band so original that it's hard to compare them to anyone in music today."--London Review
Have you heard what's happening in mainstream music today? Anzaldua has not. The band is called Anzaldua [ahn-zahl-doo'-ah] featuring thick bass-lines, electric drums, Mexican guitars, and riffs like Black Sabbath. The band consists of 3 people:
Pablo Anzaldua (vocals/guitars), Tiffany (bass/samples), and Silo Anzaldua (drums). It was started by Pablo in Phoenix in 2004, and with a few line-up changes, has kept going ever since. Pablo is originally from south Texas and grew up playing guitar and learning from his father. Pablo played as a hobby and never played live. After college, he moved to Miami Beach for a year. While there, he interviewed for several jobs till he realized what he really wanted to do: music. He wrote his first original song at the end of 2002 on a home 8-track recorder and has been making songs ever since. In late 2003, he and girlfriend, Tiffany, moved to Phoenix where Anzaldua was born. There they found a drummer through an ad and Anzaldua was born. They played over 80 shows including Hollywood's Whisky A Go-Go. Anzaldua occasionally plays their songs in Spanish for Spanish Rock shows. In 2007, Pablo and Tiffany moved to Texas while the rest of the band stayed in Phoenix. The line-up changed when Anzaldua met their latest member, drummer, Silo Anzaldua (which turned out to be Pablo's cousin). A few months later, they played in Memphis and Dallas in 2007. In September of '07, Anzaldua's first CD was released independently. 5 of the 8 songs on the disc have been played on AM, FM, Satellite, and Podcast radio all around the world including Australia. Much like the Seattle bands in the 90's, Anzaldua is redefining rock music. This is the beginning of the New Era.
