Agents of Karma are three tenacious music lovers, who don’t really see the point of trying to ride the wave of the next trend. They write and play whatever makes them happy because that's the whole point of music. Originality is the underlying force that spins the wheels for Agents of Karma. Formed by Jay Cavanaugh and Conrad Sparnroft in the mid 2000’s to fill a void in the music scene, Agents of Karma quickly gained a reputation in New York City for high energy live shows, dynamic musicianship and eclectic non formula song writing. With the arrival of energetic drummer Patrick (Paddymike) Conlon in 2007 who along with his acoustic drum kit brought in sampling and additional background vocals, made the current line up complete. Paddy Mike brings a talent for arranging and plenty of touring experience, including trips overseas to europe and hundreds of gigs and recording sessions under his belt. Outside of music Paddymike's other passion can be summed up in 5 words... "Give Blood....Play Ice Hockey". Couple that with Conrad Sparnroft’s arsenal of guitar processors, vast collection of amazing instruments and back ground of study with a who’s who list of great guitarists like: Vinnie Zummo (Joe Jackson Band), John Berenzy, Steve Khan, Bill Connors, Dave Fuiczynski (Screaming headless torsos), Vernon Reid + Hiram Bullock, and you’re off to a flying start. Conrad, a Scuba diving enthusiast also practices the martial art forms of Tai Chi Chaun, Tae Kwon Do, American Kickboxing, Wing Chun + Judo. And finally Jay Cavanaugh on Bass and Lead Vocals who’s gone from Painting, to playing bass with the 50’s legends The Del Vikings, to studying with Robert Fripps League of Crafty Guitarists, to acting in various Play’s and Independent films to doing Voice Over work for Bill Plympton, brings his art chameleon back ground into the mix to round it all out. An avid organic vegetable grower and alternative health advocate, Jay spends his down time monitoring and commenting on politics through social platforms like Facebook + Myspace, (Secretly he want’s his own show) reading books on Toaism and collecting cool used basses. .. Agents of Karma sounds like Melting Pot Rock! Chock full of secret ingredients, exotic spices and tasty meats, it's been pressure cooking at low heat for decades and it's ready to explode ! Food and music both capture the art of the bold and the subtle. It's as much about the presentation as the flavor. We taste and listen with our eyes as much as our ears and nose. (Of course you can't smell the music) but if you could, music would present a cornucopia of scents. That cornucopia of sounds is Agents of Karma. After all we are what we eat and the members of AOK have dined on some of the most nutritious music ever recorded. Burning solo's ad spice, thoughtful lyrics ad fiber, a little uncrowded space in the music gives breath and spot on tenacity gives it direction. In short AOK sounds original!
