Apache del Rio
Intertribal is comprised of Native American Indians from many different Nations
and individuals who, though not of Native American ancestry, share a strong
interest in ensuring that the culture, heritage and traditions of the Native
American Indians are accurately passed on to our children, the general public
and future generations.
Traditional values of
sharing, community participation and the sense of responsibility to our people
and to the future generations are the basis for the Indian way of life. Caring
and wealth redistribution are advanced within these traditions and emphasizes
interdependence and the good of the entire community rather than the individual.
Maintaining and passing on traditions depends on continuation of Native ways, including the practice of generosity and also education.
We'd
like to get to know anyone who's
supportive to the Native Community - anyone who wants to teach their children traditional values -
anyone who cares about the future of our Mother, the Earth...anyone like you is always welcome to join our meetings,
and children are more than welcome to come along!
We
are currently working on our Fall Social, it's similar to a powwow, but is not a
public event. It will be an opportunity for the children in the native community
to learn and for all of us to share things we know with one another. Of course
there will be a drum and dancing. The more help we have, the
better, so why not get involved? Send us a message if you think you could help
somehow!
"Sharing my art makes my heart feel good. It's a way, too, of letting people know that I have not been conquered by the oppressor even though I have spent so many years in these iron lodges. It's a way to say thank you for all the people's support. It's a way of letting them know that their prayers are strong." ~ Leonard Peltier

Leonard donates his paintings to his defense committee to help support efforts to win his freedom. This is a critical time for Leonard and for the LPDOC. We need to do everything in our power to see that Leonard is released. With this work in progress we also need funds to continue. Peltier paintings also have been given as gifts and donated to help other organizations raise funds. Leonard Peltier donates his paintings to the LP-DOC to help raise funds for his defense. The paintings are available for purchase. ..
