Hello APK fans, this is Justin. I sing and play guitar for A Perfect Kiss. I have some devastating news to say the least.
Recently, Jason, our new drummer, left the band to pursue a future in the Air Force. In light of that circumstance as well as many other thoughts and decisions I have pondered immensely and in depth, I have decided that the time has come that I part ways with A Perfect Kiss as well. And as a result, A Perfect Kiss as a whole is broken up. It was a decision that I have been in thought about for a long time, and way before Jason's departure, or even arrival, to the band. It has been no secret to the band that I was thinking about it, but it was always a hope and an effort to make things work out. I am at the point now where I have decided to just let it go. We are parting on peaceful terms without any fights, although it is a very difficult situation for us all. It is hard for us to discuss, and we all have different feelings on the matter. However, the circumstance that remains constant in this situation is our ties being broken as musicians. APK will live on forever in our hearts, and I believe that whole-heartedly, but we are not a band anymore.
It's so hard to believe that leaving something that's such a part of me, and that I have loved so much, is actually worth it. But I've spent so long and tried to hard trying to convince myself that this decision is was not worth it. I tried to believe with everything I had in me that I could keep going on, and that everything I was feeling in great detail was not enough reason for me to actually leave the band. I really think all my effort has done two things. It's convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that I have my mind made up, and it's also convinced me that I over-thought this decision. Seriously, you can only re-think something so many times before you're sure of yourself. I have over-thought myself into an oblivion. I knew what my heart was saying, but my head did not agree with it. I have finally come to terms with this closed chapter in my life.
PLEASE... if you have ANY QUESTIONS I will be glad to answer them. Seriously!! Message me on my personal myspace at myspace.com/jussy or check out my Livejournal at http://angelhair0.livejournal.com. You can leave your thoughts in a message with the voicemail thing below, or post a comment.

The Olympians
A Perfect Kiss is an effect-crazy indie rock band from Annapolis, Maryland. The band has made a name for itself by combining traditional punk/hardcore roots, classic art-rock upbringing, and a few modern-day musical influences while still creating music that has left fans breathless and refreshed. The band delivers limitless song-writing and genre-defying musical collaboration at it's finest. Lengthy and oddly structured songs touched up with intriguing lyrical imagery is what A Perfect Kiss became known for. However, even along with the band's unmistakable committment to experimentation and originality, pop-sensibility still sneaks its way to the foreground without compromising passion and honesty.
APK's newest full-length album "The Olympians" (Point Five Limey Records) is ethereal and emotive, exploring a number of dynamics, moods, vocal styles, tempos, song lengths and lyrical messages. "In Spite Of Angels," the bands debut album (independent), is where APK's reputation for writing powerful and heart-felt songs surely originated. However, "The Olympians" continued this along with increased diversity and experimentation. The new material the band has been working on promises to deliver an extremely evolved version of their trademark sound.
"Take the searing guitar composition and crashing drum work as a sign of its chaos, then marvel in the intricate mix of varied vocal volumes and serrated passages of uncompromised aggression... While applying familiar musical techniques (one could class this as emotionally charged, sonically brutal, yet unexpectedly undefined indie rock/hardcore), it is in their amalgamated state that they explode in a giant ember of passion and understanding. A Perfect Kiss emanates a certain historic, Pangaea-like quality that is strikingly poignant; as if they are some incarnation of spirits centuries ago sermonizing those beliefs of hope, despair, love and tragedy." -Sound The Sirens

ATTN FANS! We get tons of messages and comments asking why we're not playing your town on our next tour, or asking when we are going to. We really don't know an answer to either of them! We don't book our own tours hardly at all anymore. We usually have booking agents booking our tours and carefully planning the routes based on a lot of things like availability of venues, other bands, financial stuff, fan bases, distance, and many other things. If you stay updated through our MySpace, you will probably know exactly when and where we are playing within a day of us finding out ourselves. We want to hit up every single town as much as possible, but it doesn't always work that way. Please be patient with us and understand these things. It's not that easy to just trek across the country and play a show for you, even though we would love to more than anything. If you'd like to suggest a place to play or bands to play with, send us an email to bookitup@aperfectkiss.net and we will try and pass it along to whoever is booking for us at the time. Thanks!! -Justin & APK
