APES PIGS AND SPACEMEN - A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
APES, PIGS AND SPACEMEN - DO I NEED THIS
AP&S have been around for some time. A recent review in rockreport.be said, ‘Paul Miro & his friends (are) nothing short of another undiscovered gem in the music business. Class…’
That simple statement basically sums up the band’s profile so far.
In fact, the review was so spot on, that we’ll quote more from it to tell you the band history: ‘the band recorded a couple of demos, toured heavily and then subsequently signed to Music For Nations for whom they recorded a couple of EP’s & 2 albums (‘Transfusion’ & ‘Snapshot)’.
Although they were widely recognized by the specialized press and quickly gathered a vast following through constant gigging (for example opening for more established acts such as Skid Row, The Wildhearts, Monster Magnet & Freak Of Nature), they were not exactly getting where they wanted due to lack of support from MFN.
To long-term and new fans alike, it remains a mystery why AP&S remain unheard of in the mainstream…
Well, the easy answer to that is: watch the contracts you sign!
In a nutshell, when they finally managed to get out of their ‘Worst-Record-Contract-In-History’ scenario, the band were left so bereft of finance and support that they were forced to do everything under their own steam.
They had arrived, but not loudly enough to leave an impression that gave them bargaining power with other record labels. And, ojn top of that, the terms of their release from their previous record contract meant that they carried hefty baggage, which no record business type would touch.
So, since then, the band has been self-financed and releasing albums and EPs on the Phat Monkey label since 2003.
Because there are no record company budgets, the expense of touring and promotion have so far been out of the band’s reach, with the main focus of the project being studio-based.
Unable to afford press campaigns, Apes releases tend to fall under the public radar, but a recent limited promo release of the EP Simple Simian received some astounding reviews in the UK and Europe.
Toxic Pete wrote: ‘These dudes
have all the right tools; stunning song writing, superb individual musicianship and a fantastic togetherness, total unity…’
‘Cream will always rise to the top, and this band has
gold top running through its veins. Good writing by Miro and top production make this a product that
sets a high standard…’ (Kaye Bowes cdreviewsbyu)
‘AP&S still have the potential to achieve the success that has hitherto eluded
them…’ (James Buckingham. Soundmusicreviews).’
This reaction has also been backed up with a lot of radio airplay, including slots on BBC Radio 6’s Rock Show.
Individual band members are involved with numerous side projects – recording, producing, writing, film projects, sessions, etc. all in the pursuit of the elusive success that AP&S so deserve.

Bons flirts!

I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.
I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
Thanks
