In 1983, Apex first opened for business with the name "Badlands" - a name which enjoyed years of status as one of the country's best gay nightlife destinations. As we celebrated twenty years of service and revealed a dramatic club makeover, the name was changed to... Apex. Always GAY OWNED & OPERATED, we have proudly served the District's GBLT community for over 25 years!
Today, Apex is still DC's most reliable hotspot for gay nightlife. Two levels and seven full service bars create a network of well-defined spaces to suit the diverse elements of our community's nightlife needs. Change the mood of your evening by simply walking from one room to the next.
Dance until your heart is content downstairs in our Main Hall while nationally acclaimed DJ's spin the latest tracks on a state of the art sound system - Top 40, Anthem, Electro, House & Hip Hop music - it's all here. Apex is extremely proud to light up the night with an entirely new lighting design from the experts at "Martin Inc."
The East Wing Lounge, also on the main level, is just the place to kick back and watch your favorite music videos on banks of high-definition plasma monitors.
Upstairs you'll find good conversation with friends in our Comfort Lounge. It's the perfect place to relax.
And if you are really feeling the music...you're only steps from the Starz Lounge. Here you'll find our karaoke hosts to be nothing short of local celebrities who will have you at ease behind the mic in no time. Just choose your favorite track!
All the while, our friendly and knowledgeable bar staff are on hand to serve your drinks; with helpful and well trained security personnel to ensure Apex remains a safe recreational environment for you and your friends.
Each year, Apex is host to some of the hottest special event parties in town including "The Cherry Fund" and "MAL" (Mid-Atlantic Leather) Weekend. On the Main stage every Saturday night you'll find Miss Kristina Kelly & Company putting on the best drag show DC has seen in years.
Simply stated, with all of this under one roof, Apex is DC's Premier Entertainment Complex.
Apex is conveniently located 4 blocks west of the Dupont Circle Metro Station on the red line. Our doors open at ..9pm.. each evening and on Fridays and Saturdays we offer after-hours dancing until YOU STAY STOP. You must be 18 to enter and 21 to drink.
