Introducing Apexx…
Apexx is an afro hip-hop group which originates from Nigeria and is currently based in Baltimore, Maryland – US. Not just another hip-hop group, Apexx puts a unique spin on the hip-hop music genre. Merging their different abilities with their African heritage, the resulting sound that is Apexx speaks excellence for itself. The young men who make up Apexx are artists of incomparable talent who excel in any field of the game – rapping, singing and stage performances. Apexx has one goal in mind - to permeate the world with its voice.
Apexx is made up of two young men – Mr Sarra and Mr Wizdumb. Mr Sarra who also goes by Alfa Chukwu is a native of Rivers State, Nigeria and Mr Wizdumb, or Samuel Ogunmola, is a native of Oyo State. With their varying backgrounds and differing growth experiences, Mr Sarra and Mr Wizdumb together embody the unstoppable force that is Apexx. Together, they are ready, willing and able to easily achieve their goal.
Meet the Artists
Mr Wizdumb was born July 23, 1981 in Zaria, Nigeria. His family moved back to Oyo state to reside with his grandparents. He attended First Baptist Primary School and Methodist secondary school, both located in Fiditi, Oyo state. Nollege Wizdumb and his family moved to Queens, New York, United States in 1996. Nollege then relocated to Baltimore, Maryland to join his sister in 2005 where he furthers his education.
Nollege plays a vital role as the “Mouthpiece” of Apexx. He invites a lot of action to the group while simultaneously guarding ‘the teeth and the tongue’ of the group. In plain terms, he cushions hard blows (delivered or received by Apexx) so they do not adversely affect the group.
Slim Alf( Mr Sarra) was born August 23, 1985 in Rumuike, Rumuepirikom, Port-Harcourt, Rivers state. He received his primary school education from Aladumo Educational Center. In 1996, he attended New Covenant Secondary School. In 2000 he transferred to Immanuel Comprehensive high school where he finished his secondary education in 2002. In 2003, Slim Alf attended rivers State University of science and technology until 2004 when he decided to move to the United States for further education.
Being the most culturally diverse of the team, Slim Alf is also known as the “ruggedy” of Apexx. His multi-cultural exposures make him invaluable to the group. He is able to blend assorted takes, sounds and views in order to crank out the unique sound that characterizes Apexx.
Past, Present and Future
Apexx has performed at quite a number of events in the past few years. In the US, they have been sighted in Chicago, Baltimore, Washington DC, New York, and Houston e.t.c. They have also performed in Toronto, Canada. Apexx also occasionally performs alongside a number of other great Nigerian artists including Tony Tetuila, D’banj, El Dee and Banky W to name a few
