Hi, here it' s Grace Invain,
We have composed and recorded "A Phase Ahead", a 9 tracks Concept Album, in here you will be able to get a hint of it.
The Album is mostly instrumental, and deals with the mental alienation people feel facing this modern world; the subsequent search of a shelter in their own minds, and the return to life with the final melancholy awareness about this situation.
Obviously “A Phase Ahead” is much more complicated than these few words.

Grace Invain’ s musical project first appeared at the beginning of 2004, when guitarist Alessio Davì and drummer Emanuele Diamanti, met keyboard player Michele Pasqualini and bass player Alessio Comini. The idea was giving life to a kind of gripping music able to involve the listener and to invent sounds aimed to break the torpor brought by contemporary life. Thus the standard voice, guitar, bass and drums are now combined with keyboards and synthesizers to deepen the acoustic soul of the band and enrich the music played by the instruments.
During the first year the band came up with the creative minds of the group sharing their own tastes and musical styles, and was soon able to propose social themes and draw tracks still hidden by that time.
After plenty of work “A Phase Ahead” was born, a 9 track Concept Album built on the anguish which characterizes contemporary man, who is forced to live in an alienated society which makes him a tool rather than ultimate goal.
The Album finds its way to trace the path of human being, in which his mind is both responsible for and the only escape from it. The track’ sequence takes us through an introspective journey in its cyclic but temporary resolution.
“Man” finally achieves his last step only in the last but one track, “Knowledge Of Return”.
From now on he comes back to daily life strong enough to face it and aware of what is changeable and what is not; we can only accept the mark, in which, as mentioned in the song “we remain only a sparkle in the night”, whereas the light can be explained like “nothing” as to the darkness or a cry of hope.
“A Phase Ahead” has been totally self-produced and recorded by Grace Invain in spite of the few means available. But obviously, huge efforts always imply sacrifices, and during that long hard recording process the bass player was been no longer able to contribute like the others, and left the band by mutual consent. Luckily his role is soon replaced by Francesco Cova, who joined Grace Invain successfully performing with them.
Grace Invain are now committing themselves not only to live gigs but also to new projects.
They are in fact working on new texts and music.
Meanwhile they go on trying to establish new contacts, they are also looking for new opportunities on the Web to let people know their music even addressing to experiences abroad.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Il progetto musicale dei Grace Invain nasce nella primavera del 2004 dall’ incontro di Alessio Davì (chitarra e voce) ed Emanuele Diamanti (batteria), seguiti da Michele Pasqualini (tastiere e synth) e Alessio Comini (basso). L’idea è quella di dar vita ad una musica in grado di avvolgere e coinvolgere l’ascoltatore, di inventare sonorità tese a frammentare il torpore dei sensi indotto dalla frenesia dello stile di vita “produci e consuma”. Ecco così che ai canonici voce, chitarra, basso e batteria si vengono ad affiancare tastiere e synth, non per ricercare suoni strettamente elettronici, quanto più per dare maggiore profondità all’anima acustica della formazione, ad arricchire il solco tracciato dai quattro strumenti base.
Durante il primo anno di attività il gruppo dà sfogo allo spirito creativo dei singoli componenti confrontando gusti e stili musicali, riuscendo finalmente a proporre tematiche sociali e disegnare brani da tempo reconditi ma ancora inespressi; caratterizzando così lo stile che li contraddistingue.
Dopo molto lavoro nasce “A Phase Ahead”, un Concept Album di 9 brani permeato dal sentimento di angoscia che tratteggia l’uomo contemporaneo: costretto a vivere in una società alienata e alienante, di cui non può più sentirsi fine ultimo ma mero strumento. Il Concept si trova così a ridisegnare il percorso compiuto dall’”uomo macchina”: un tracciato in cui la mente è al contempo corresponsabile dell’alienazione e unica via d’uscita da questa. La sequenza dei brani si ripromette di accompagnare il percorso introspettivo nel suo incedere e nella sua ciclica, e perciò solo temporanea, risoluzione.
E’ solo nella penultima composizione, “Knowledge of Return”, che l’ entità riesce appunto a compiere il passo decisivo in questo suo tormentato percorso: da quel momento è consapevole del suo ritorno alla vita in tutte le sue manifestazioni, e ne ha la forza anche se con un’amara nota di “consapevole rassegnazione”.
Accettare la realtà stessa in cui, come per tutto ciò che ha un inizio e una fine, noi “restiamo un bagliore nella notte”; laddove il bagliore lascia libera interpretazione di sé inteso come un nulla rispetto al buio profondo, o come un grido di speranza nell’oscurità.
“A Phase Ahead” è stato completamente autoprodotto e registrato dai Grace Invain in uno sforzo alimentato dall’afflato per il proprio progetto che ha sopperito – e questa non è una novità per un gruppo emergente – all’esiguità dei mezzi a disposizione ed alle prime esperienze con il sound recording.
Ma le imprese solitarie, per quanto piccole, comportano sacrifici e convinzione .
Ed è così che durante le registrazioni nel febbraio scorso il bassista Alessio Comini lascia i Grace Invain di comune accordo, non contribuendo e sostenendo appieno lo stesso nei continui tentativi di migliorarsi e di curare un lavoro in corso ormai da mesi.
E’ pertanto un trio quello che porta a termine l’ attività realizzando autonomamente perfino le parti di basso. L’ addio di Comini viene presto colmato dall’arrivo di Francesco Cova.

Sabato 20 settembre ROUGH&TOUGH Una serata a base di suoni vintage dagli anni '50, '60 e '70, dall’ R&B di Ruth Brown allo SKA dei Wailers, dal SOUL di Otis Redding al REGGAE degli Upsetters, con qualche incursione nel JAZZ e nell' HAMMOND GROOVE di Jimmy Smith e Jack McDuff. Musica nera con lo scopo di farvi consumare la suola delle scarpe, tra classici e rarità!
