Sounds Like
"Sligo-raised, Belfast-based combo throwing the sort of radio-friendly alt.rock shapes and licks that auger well for their future."
Jim Carroll's Future Sounds
The Ticket (The Irish Times)
"There are few bands in
the country who can engage an audience like this, and the crowd give as
much back as they can. Every song sounds like an anthem, every moment
an event. By the end, 'Kids (Don't Behave Like This)' blasts out of the speakers and we are
taken to another place. This is absolutely essential music."
Stephen Rainey BBC.
"Noisey, emotive and with its heart beating and bleeding all over its sleeve - it's a collection of songs that while lacking dead-eyed cool, have no trouble convincing of their sincerity" Colin Carberry - Hotpress Magazine October 08
"‘Kids Don’t Behave Like This’ is a swooning, soaring piece of proto-shoegazing glory, vocal rippling with barely-concealed emotion until the last minute, when he explodes with a Vedder-esque roar, drawing a Biffy-tinged veil over proceedings.....Kids should behave like this" Alternative Ulster Magazine March 09
"In an age of style over substance, we need to rely on bands like a plastic rose, who haven't forgotten about the art of a decent f**king tune. Which isn't to say they aren't a dapper bunch" Rigsy, BBC Across The Line
Irish Tour April '09 A Plastic Rose are purveyors of mid nineties post-hardcore tinged ‘Catchy Alternative Rock‘®, rooted firmly in late naughties peacetime Belfast, where they have been cutting their teeth on the northern front since August 2006.
2008 ended on a high for the band after being voted in the Top 20 Best Bands of '08 by BBC ATL and playing the X-mas Two Step gig in The Limelight with ASIWYFA and LaFaro. This was to top off a great year which saw two Irish tours to promote the release of their critically acclaimed 3rd EP 'Photograph's In Black and White', BBC Radio One and BBC ATL live sessions, taking part in the IMRO Showcase Tour, special guesting for RTE 2fm (alongside Concerto For Constantine & The Flaws) and a mention on Gary Lightbodies blog hailing them as one of his favourite new Northern Irish bands. Also some great supports slots with Frank Turner, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, ASIWYFA and more and part of ASIWYFA's historic A Little Solidarity Festival
2009 has started with a bang having already seen their song 'Suns A Shadow' hitting no.3 and Skin No.2 in the new Northern Irish download chart nichart.com and with two showcase gigs for BBC Radio One's Hew Stephens one last Feb the next March 10th (The Social, London). Immortal Records are to release a compilation CD called 'Time To Be Proud' as a tribute to the great punk scene in Belfast in the past which will feature A Plastic Rose's cover of the Ruefrex classic 'One By One'(listen now www.myspace.com/immortalrecordsireland) Ash, Therapy, Snow Patrol, Duke Special and many more are due to feature on the compilation
If that wasn't enough they were straight into the studio after xmas to record a brand new self titled EP with maestro Ryan Mitchell which was released in Spring & Airbrake, Belfast 20th Feb(check out the live videos) and recorded their debut videofor 'Kid's Don't Behave Like This' with Will Mc Connell (bandwidth/BBC) . To top off a promising beginning to the year their performance of UTV's Live At The Limelight was aired on March 4th which was the bands first appearance on national TV.
APR hit the road in April so keep an eye on the tour dates and hopefully we will see you somewhere in the UK and Ireland very soon. More on this soon. Join the mailing list and check this myspace page regularly for updates.
