Who I'd like to meet:
Formal 2007 Video by Kyle West:
Michele - I must say I am thoroughly impressed! I have a ton of pictures that I recently found, too. (Sheesh, I've been doing scrapbooking on the side... you would think I could organize my own pics, huh?) Have to scan them, though that could take a while.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to remember things... like while I was pledging, we had a "lock in." And, oh yeah, at the end of my pledge semester, I was given the "Brother Most Likely to be Mistaken for Artificial Intelligence." Hmmm... maybe not something to brag about. But Pat, do you remember our conversation about that? If so, don't tell!!
I went digging through the boxes in the basement this weekend, and came up with some old photos and three old composites. We're in the process of scanning them and identifying everyone (quite a stretch of the memory, I tell ya!) I found my family tree from Spring 96, and with some help I think I can reconstruct all of the 90's branches. If the older alums could drop me a line with your class designation and who your pledge brothers were, I'll be able to put up a tree showing both family trees and pledge classes. There are only a few brothers missing from the late 90's, and that's mostly due to my memory gaps :) If you pledged after 97, just remind me when you got in, etc. There's even a tenuous line from the old chapter to the new - runs through the old Commuter Lounge if I'm not mistaken!
Awesome idea Dawn! I remember that we had to do that as a pledge class, too. We each had to interview each active brother and then alumni if they wanted to be involved.
I have an idea... As part of the fall semester pledge program. How about assigning each pledge a branch/a few alumni from our "old trees". You can have them "reconnect" with us and find out our stories and any memories/history we have of our days in APO...thoughts?
I am not sure if this is true or not, but it might clear up some of the mystery of why there are no records of anything before 2000. From what I was told, in the late 90's, a few brothers (who shall remain nameless) took all of our history (IE: Banners, documents, the constitution, the ritual kit, etc.) and burned them in a bonfire when the chapter died. It hurts to think about this even now, considering all the hard work we all put into everything. I was not there, but this is something I had heard from another brother. It's not that we were forgotten, we were destroyed. So sad.
FYI- I served as President (1 semester) and Pledge Educator (1 semester), as well as being on several committees, including (but not limited to....lol) Re-Writing the chapter constitution during my Presidency.
Well to show what a freaking pack rat I am... I have a bunch of history information...
The year that I graduated (1995), we had made a Member book... It has the brother's name, nick name, pledge class, major, Scroll # both local and national, Graduation time frame, DOB and home address (at the time), and also positions held.
I can make a copy of it and email it to anyone that would want it!
It could probably help to put our trees back together! :)
Chris, I saw you posted about a notorious 7. Betcha never heard about the Lambda 8! We all had 1/8 of a brain. Together, we could rule the world - the APO Pledge World, that is. We were also the 7 dwarfs with Snow White. (No, our pledge master was NOT the wicked stepmother. She was great (Jenn Tocker with Michelle (Mickey) Bogner as assistant.)
I was Bashful, which really doesn't go with Butterfly, does it? Ahhh... memories.
Anyway, i haven't been that good with updating all the bios stuff on the site, but maybe sometime over the summer i'll redo that part, move over the recent alum, and add something for the "classic" group.
Send any bios and other info for the website to webmaster@alphaphiomeganutheta.org
