Sounds Like
It's music, Jim - but not as we know it............
The Apostrophes were formed in February 2005 with the concept of high-octane formula 2 blokes / 4 guitars, covers & originals; an approach stripped down to the skinny bones with no safety net!
Both Dave & Mark have been in full-out rock, punk, cover/cabaret and psycho-ska bands – too many to mention – within Merseyside and the Midlands all their dissolute lives.
The Apostrophes is an act designed to get away from the idea of a 'proper' 4-piece band with fights, prima-donna attitude and the drummer that lets everyone down too often, turns up p!ssed and tries to get off with your partner... at an APOSTROPHES gig, you'll wake up rudely and think, "Well - how did I get here?"
The Two Blokes.........................
Mark was the original lead-guitarist for 'A Flock of Seagulls', a 1980s new-wave pop group, while at University. Of course, as luck would have it, after Mark left to complete his "eddykation" they started becoming successful! Since then marriage, two kids and a printing business put the music career on hold until now. We now expect to see a pending divorce, bankruptcy and a visit from the Child Support Agency!
Dave - The Lord of The Strings. Dave has been in numerous pub bands since making his first appearance aged 15 at The Fighting Cocks, Moseley with school pal Paul Wood. He has not spoken to Paul since falling out over a dodgy offside decision that went against him during a Subbuteo tournament. A musical career that started at the bottom has since worked its way rapidly sideways and a man for whom the phrase 'always the bridesmaid' could have been invented - until now......................
The Four Guitars -
Mark's two 'babies' are a Yamaha 12-string and a Guild 6-string 'Jumbo'.
Dave's geetars are a Gibson Les Paul and a Taylor T5 (& a Takimine but that would make 5 - shhhhh).
Thanks goes to...............
