Rockumentary
That's right folks Jeremy Gee followed us for quite a while and put together a great documentary about what it's like doing what we do. Visit our channel on YouTube to check it out.
Founded by Wisconsin natives and longtime childhood friends Aaron Shekey (vocals, guitar) and Ryan McGrew (bass), Apparently Nothing creates an infectious blend of modern and classic rock swagger. Soon after the band’s inception, the duo enlisted Layne Knutson (drums) and Charlie Abbott (guitar, vocals, keyboard). What formed was an embodiment of the American midwest — the blue collar, but educated communites that raised Apparently Nothing’s founding members.
After what was in many ways a cornering of the Madison market in 2005, the band made the decision to move their home base to Minneapolis, MN. Their second full length, entitled “Sprawl” was independently released in December of 2005, selling over 100 copies in its first night. A more cohesive effort than its predecessor, “Sprawl” received rave reviews from midwest fans and publications alike. This bout of good fortune led to Apparently Nothing’s live debut in Minneapolis to over 1500 fans at the Weisman Art Museum in September of 2006.
Following the success of “Sprawl” and subsequent tours, the band immediately began writing for what would become an EP entitled “Apparently Nothing & The Usual Things”, a testament to a new musical direction that strayed from the no holds barred powerchords of Apparently Nothing’s past. Instead, “Apparently Nothing & The Usual Things” featured lavish production that included a small marching percussion ensemble, and focused on melody and lyrical content rather than rock n’ roll swagger. Released in August of 2007 in Middleton, WI at the largely attended Good Neighbor Festival, “The Usual Things”, gained the attention of many important figures in the music industry, as well as management companies and labels alike.
The band has since been touring and promoting the already successful EP, and has enlisted the help of Art Alexakis, iconic front man of the band “Everclear”, for production of their third independent full length effort, scheduled to be recorded in September, 2008.
has played with...
The Living Things, The Vacation, Pink Spiders, Burden Brothers, Houston Calls, Bedlight for Blue Eyes, Tokyo Rose, The Matches, Everclear, Red, and many more major/indie label artists.

Hello. Just taking a minute here to stop by and say thanks so much for being on my friend's list. I appreciate any support you may offer my music and welcome your comments and thoughts. Looking forward to hearing from you.
how did you guys end up getting Art Alexakis to produce your next lot of songs?? did he offer to? or did you have to find him and pay him a bunch of money
hey you guys sound awesome i can hear the everclear influence in ur songs. on a side note i downloaded an acoustic cover of sparkle by everclear and im pretty sure it has ur lead singer playing it?
no, but i either went on tour with you, or saw you while on tour with someone else, and it was the tour with boys like girls and GC? (i just saw a flyer for it yesterday) and i don't even know. i was with my friend, and then paramore showed up, no big deal, and then i ditched you guys and rode a motorcycle and caught up with you later. and there was more but i don't remember... pretty intense.
Hey dudes, hope things are going well for you guys! If you can make it, it'd be awesome to see the AN members who are still on this side of the Atlantic at the Annex on July 3rd.
I pretty much have no life so I just spend hours looking for bands around the midwest that I hope someday I'll either get to see or play a show with. It's sad really =/
It would be great to hear you guys live, but I'm not a Portland girl. I'm actually in Pennsylvania near the New York state boarder. So if your going to be in this area let me know! thanks
yes, i did find your page through the hungry n hollow site. howd you guess? :)
its fun to go online there and check every now and then, and see how out of control some people get over the silliest little things. im in the news business, so i know how comment/blog pages are the wild west of online. :)
anyway, i liked your song MUTUAL FRIEND, and some of your other songs, so i look forward to hearing the new stuff !
Yeah, we're pretty brand-spankin' new. We're planning on recording for real once we've discovered the ever-elusive vocalist... which, with any luck, will be sometime in the extremely near future. Thanks for checkin it out!
