APPARITION are a band of mercenary’s, all with strong personality’s, all cursed with talent and all knowing they need each other to bring out the creativity from within them.. Band members come and go, but the spirit of my vision lives on with Samantha, John and Rob. These are the latest people to join myself and Ian in Apparition. So we say goodbye to Fiona, Rich and Paul and wish them well in whatever they do in life..
IN THE STUDIO
Within only a few weeks of Samantha, John and Rob joining us, writing music was what we set out to do and to date we have written 4 new songs. One of them is called ‘Traitors Gate’ and is a reworking of a song we played a couple of times live, with the previous line up. New lyrics were added and it is this song that we recorded along with ‘Elysium’ and both can be heard in the music player. Both songs are in demo form recorded live so do not sound nowhere near as they will when they are recorded properly in the future.
Also in the player are ‘The Dream Where I Cannot Go’, ‘Salvation’ and ‘The Path to Eternity’ along with old favourite’s ‘Frozen Roses’ and Forever Guilty’ from the debut album ‘Drowned In Questions’..

BIOGRAPHY
Apparition formed in 1997 by bassist David Homer and drummer Paul Collins. Both musicians were part of UK death metal band Asphyxiator who’s album ‘Trapped Between Two Worlds’ was released earlier on in the same year. David Had written a melodic song called ‘The Pain Lives On’ which was different to Asphyxiator’s usual brutal metal style. He formed a side project to record the song and he called this Apparition.
David got Paul to drum on the song and to make things sound really different he asked a local club singer called Rebecca Tibbett to sing the song little knowing in time female fronted metal would be very popular.
On New Years eve 2003 David read an advert on a music shop notice board by a singer/keyboard player called Jen Lowe. She was looking for a similar sounding band and after a couple of meetings decided to work together and take Apparition further than it had before by becoming a proper band instead of just a studio project.
David, Paul and Jen started writing songs together and it wasn’t too long before guitarist Richard Knight and vocalist Annabelle Harris joined them.
Together they wrote and recorded an album called ‘Drowned in Questions’ and in 2006 had it released through Casket music.
In Late 2006 both Annabelle and Jen left Apparition to concentrate on their university courses. They were replaced by Ian Bentley on keyboards and Vocalist Fiona Creaby.
After the new band members had learnt the songs on the set list, Apparition started playing shows again and wrote new songs, recording them at Rhythm studios in England with Paul Johnston who has worked with bands such as Napalm Death, Vader, Benediction and Tony Iommi.
In 2007 Apparition put on a mini music festival featuring female fronted metal bands from around the UK called the Dames of darkness Festival. This was repeated in 2008 and all money raised went to the ‘Breast Cancer Care’ charity.
In 2008 the songs ‘Salvation’, ‘The Dream Where I Cannot Go’ and ‘The Path to Eternity’ were completed along with a promo video for the song ‘Salvation’. The video tells the story of a soldier going of to war leaving his wife behind. This video can be seen in the video section of this site.
In 2009 Fiona, Paul and Rich leave Apparition to be replaced by Vocalist Samantha Smallwood, Drummer Rob Swinnerton and Guitarist John Yates.
Fiona’s leaving letter can be seen in the blog ‘Fiona leaves Apparition’.
Here are a couple of reviews of the album 'Drowned in Questions' that were featured in rock/metal magazines.
