Influences
'70s and '80s Rock: Aerosmith, Ratt, Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, and Skid Row; Warren DiMartini, George Lynch, Slash, etc. If you have an IQ above 50 I think you'll see a pattern here!
Sounds Like
'80s Rock, with other eras and genres too thrown into the mix for good measure. Because any average music fan in the audience of any given band anywhere is not going to be so one-dimensional as to not like music from other genres and eras as well. As you might see your favorite band in concert paying homage in song to their favorites, so might we do likewise and play a Doors, Zeppelin, etc. tune or 2. It can't be called "Rock" if it doesn't have balls. Remember what the expression "rock and roll" originally meant. If the music is limp, it doesn't rock. End of discussion!
Ahhh, the Eighties. That Decade of Decadence marked by Big Hair and Big Guitar bands. When bandanas were a rock fashion statement. When clubs featuring live music were plentiful, and everyone seemed to be having way too much fun. Then along came Grunge and Rap, and the Record Labels dropped the Good Stuff for the "Next Big Thing." Rock music became as depressing as a typical rainy day in Seattle, lost it's sense of fun, and all of a sudden bands seemed to forget how to play good guitar solos and put on a %^!$ proper rock show. Bands weren't as fun anymore, and the audience was lucky if the band on stage wasn't shoe gazing all the time.
Well never fear, the '80s Hair-Metal Tribute Aquanett is here, to recapture that long-lost vibe, playing that brand of rock made famous by bands like Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Poison, Ratt, as well as "rocked out" covers of other hits.
AQUANETT is a tribute to the kickass rock of the '80s. In this day of limp, watered-down chick-pop (thanks a LOT, Clear Channel, for f*cking up Rock Radio!) that cover the parts of the dial not yet devoted to Musica en Espanol, we try to take rock music fans back to a time when music was fun to listen to, and concerts were something to see (before the days of sampled vocal tracks and entirely sequenced music, backing a bunch of dancers).
You will witness Aquanett proudly sporting clothing by Marc Vachon of Hollywood, Illicit Streetwear of NZ, Lip Service, and other kickass rock fashions! Booking: TEI North (Folsom, CA) - Scott Mason: (916) 294.0800
