Any music from Aquaphonic's prior to 10/31/06 was accompanied by the great billy Gilmore. you can see what billy has been up to at billygilmore.net or his myspace site located in our top friends.
Influences Aquaphonics is influenced by many styles of music, old and new. Our sound has a wide range from our feel good lyrical jams to our funk, jazz and electronic influenced instrumentals. you never know what kind of show your going to get. one thing we can promise, is that we are going to try are hardest to keep you grooving all night. our most flattering complement was posted on archive.org and it said. " it's like medeski, martin, and wood had an orgy with the guys from the Meters and their offspring were the aquaphonics...and during this orgy at some point the new deal came down and sprinkled their love juice in on the whole shabang." thanks swampgrasskarl:)
Sounds Likemedeski martin and wood, galactic, charlie hunter, steve kimock band, lotus, the funky meters, soul live, phish, grey boy allstars, carl denson's tiny universe, the bad plus, robert walters twentyth congress, moe., the new deal, sound tribe sector nine, and many more check out some live shows here http://www.archive.org/details/aqua2009-04-11.show.at4040

   About Aquaphonics
Biography Aquaphonics started in 2001 as a jam session between original members alan and jessiah and at the time billy gilmore on guitar. the guys played a few shows around south florida, and went their separate ways soon after. in 2006 the band got back together for a solid year long run doing shows all over florida. billy had other commitments with other projects that took him all over the world and landed him in asheville N.C. so with the absence of billy gilmore, alan and jessiah tried out other projects, but didn't find the freedom and enjoyment that aquaphonics brought them. in late 2008 the two joined up with steve elmore, a local musician and song writer. steve ushered in a whole new element to the band, before steve they were purely instrumental, but now you can find them taking on three part harmonies. (UPDATE) as of july 30th 2009 Aquaphonics is proud to welcome our newest member Jim Dinsmore on the bass. with jim's help Aquaphonics is ready to soar to all new heights. Aquaphonics sound is influenced more by the band members than any one band or type of sound, for that they deliver a show with a variety of flavors. our most flattering complement was posted on archive.org and it said. " it's like medeski, martin, and wood had an orgy with the guys from the Meters and their offspring were the aquaphonics...and during this orgy at some point the new deal came down and sprinkled their love juice in on the whole shabang." thanks swampgrasskarl:)

BAND MEMBER BIO: Alan started to play the piano at age 5. Twelve plus years of training and theory brought him to his first band, The Storyville Trio. This post-bop jazz/fusion project first let him experience improv, and paved the way for many other projects.

Bands: Storyville Trio, Stonehouse, Crazy Fingers, Aquaphonics, and many other projects along the way.

Influences: Dr. Randall MacElwain, Miss Sally Allen, (the two best piano teachers anyone could ever ask for. I was truly blessed to be under there guidance.) Brian Menendez, Jessiah Weston, Steve Elmore, Billy Gilmore, Eric Ireland, Scott Gorman, Micheal True, Stevie Wonder, Donald Fagen, Fats Whaller, Mozart, Steely Dan, The Eagles, Medeski Martin and Wood, Jaco Pastorius, Phish, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Frank Zappa, Beethoven, James Brown, Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, Bennie Greene, Elvin Jones, etc.............

Jessiah has been playing drums for 15 years. having been self taught he has developed his own unique style of playing. his passion for drumming was found at a rainbow gathering in 1994 when he was given his first drum a djembe. other musical projects: Waterbird, Atlantic beat project [ATL], nutone hydrologic [ATL]. Influences: Zach Velmer[STS9], Bjork, Ozric Tentacles, postal service. Bob Marley.

Steve has been strumming away for about 12 years, with his beginnings in young vocal groups, piano studies, and the viola. Those instruments graduated into acoustic guitar in the likes of Clapton, Kottke, and many more. More recently he spends most of his time writing and enjoying playing a variety of instruments, although still focusing on electric guitar and vocals.

Jim first picked up the bass guitar around 1995. His style of playing reflects his love of music and much of who he is, having been entirely self taught. Many a kindred spirit have been an influence to Jim over the years. Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, The Beatles, John Patitucci, The Jazz Pistols, Rush, and Joe Satriani are to name but a few. Previous musical experiences are Cosmic Wheel, a Massachusetts based band where Jim is from, also Never Leaving and Independently Poor both of the Treasure Coast. When asked what his thoughts were on joining Aquaphonics? He replied, "Right from the very first note we struck together, it just felt right."
