O AquiJazz, Coro de Jazz da ESMAE, foi fundado por Barbara Francke em Outubro de 2001. Formado por mais de vinte e seis elementos - na sua maioria alunos da Escola Superior de Musica e Artes do Espectaculo - tem-se apresentado com exito nas principais salas de Portugal, actuando tambem em Festivais internacionais, como, mais recentemente, no programa de abertura da Casa da Musica, Festival de Musica de Aveiro, no Festival de Belfort em Franca, no Festival de Jazz de Tondela e no Douro Jazz 2005.
O AquiJazz foi seleccionado pelo comite de organizacao do Aarhus Vocal Festival (na Dinamarca) para participar na competicao do Festival deste ano, que decorreu de 11 a 14 de Maio de 2006. Esta seleccao entre centenas de grupos corais obedeceu a rigorosos criterios de qualidade e apurou apenas seis coros para o evento, sendo todos de reconhecido nivel internacional. De lá trouxe um prémio especial do júri e elogios de destacadas figuras da música vocal internacional.
O AquiJazz dedica-se a repertorio de diversos estilos na area Jazz, desde complexos arranjos vocais a cappella a temas acompanhados por trio de Jazz, intercalados por intervencoes solisticas de alguns dos seus elementos. O AquiJazz adora utilizar acentuacao nos seus textos mas, como veem, o MySpace nao deixa. ...................................................................................................

The AquiJazz Jazz Choir from ESMAE (Music & Show Arts Superior School), started in October 2001, founded by Barbara Francke. With 24 singers (mostly students of the school) it has been successfully presenting itself in the most important theatres in Portugal, as well as at international Festivals. Recently played at the ouverture program of Casa da Musica, Festival de Musica de Aveiro, FIMU Festival in Belfort France, Jazz'in Tondela, DouroJazz 2005 and the Aarhus Vocal Festival in Denmark.
AquiJazz has a repertoire of several styles beneath the Jazz stamp, from complex vocal acappella arrangements to tracks with a jazz combo, and even soloist interventions by some of the members of the choir. AquiJazz loves to use portuguese typing characters and accents, but myspace doesnt allow it.
