"Arakajime kimerareta koibito tachi e"
(literally means "For Pre-determined Lovers" in Japanese)
is the project by Shouji Ikenaga.
He is mainly influenced by new roots Reggae (as Jah Shaka, etc.), Steppers and
melow Melodion (Melodica) sounds like Augustus Pablo and King Tubby.
Not only that, he also textures roller-coaster Rock music,
tenderness of Soft Rock, Psychedelic Rock, and even noise music.
In addition, organization of Arakajime's music has some picturesque characters
and cinematic method as jump cut, collage. That makes his musical style makes up
ambivalent feelings as hidden madness in quietness and innocense in indecency
These musical factors is getting a lot of attention from up-and-coming artists
in movie / theatre industries and he created many soundtracks.
Since he moved to Tokyo from Osaka in 2008, he's been playing so many
clubs and venues
with support from Kim (Drums), Tsurugi (Bass), Kuritetz (Theremin,
Perc.) and Rocapenis (Visual FX).
Their live performance is described as "impulsive" by Critics.
It is different direction from his recordings but this diversity makes
Arakajime's music more attractive.
●山本精一 とても心地よいメロディの中に、まるで瓶詰めにされた妖怪のように蠢く魔音。哀愁に満ち、洗練された美しさと等価に置かれるヤバさこの辺りが、"あら恋"の一筋縄でいかない部分であって、他に無い魅力といえる。
●曽我部恵一 メランコリアがやさしく爆発する透明なダブ・アルバム。こんな音楽は世界中のどこを探しても、見つからないだろう。今年もっとも素晴らしいアルバムのひとつ。
●こだま和文（DUB STATION） あらかじめ決められていない音への魅力。どこまでも求めていってほしい。疾走、失踪DUB。
●山下敦弘（映画監督) 横スクロールの画の中で、時にはぬかるんだ道を、時たまスキップしながら一歩一歩進んでいくピアニカを吹く男。雨に濡れ生乾きのTシャツのまま見る言葉に出来ないくらいキレイな夕焼け。でも、止まるわけにはいかない「あらかじめ決められた恋人たち」の音楽は"ここ"だけじゃなく世界中の僕らの日常に鳴り響く。壮大な景色の中に広がるひとりひとりのための音楽。
●山内 圭哉（パンク侍、切られて候、パコと魔法の絵本） 前作に比べ、確実にクオリティが上がっていることに感動。空気の触れてない音と空気の触れた音のバランスの妙。子供が大人を見る時の目線。懐かしさと新しさ。決して都会的ではないのに、何故か真夜中の都内のドライブで聴きたくなるような。不思議。
●アキラ（赤犬） いろんな色の音がつまっていました。きっとこれは幸せな人が作っているからなのです。だから私は幸せを感じました。いろんな人に感じてほしい音楽なのです。きっと大切な事を想い出します。
●SHIRO THE GOODMAN（ROMZ/HONCHO SOUND） 少な過ぎる嘘が作り出した色気のない物語。それがまたとても綺麗。
