Sport. I pretty much like any and all kinds of sport, though I'm particularly into cricket and rugby league. In my younger days I was also an avid swimmer.
Music
I like what you'd probably call traditional rock and roll, Jimmy Barnes, The Rolling Stones, Queen. But it does also depend on the mood I'm in. Sometimes I listen to a bit of Billy Joel or Bette Midler who is fantastic live.
Movies
I like most science fiction.
Television
Boston Legal is one of my favourites as is Spics and Specs and of course almost anything science fiction based. History channel gets a big workout also.
Books
I'd don't really think I have a favourite book as I do so much reading for work. For a laugh I'd pick the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. More seriously,I'd say JFK's biography by Robert Dallek.
Heroes
Gough Whitlam, Nelson Mandela and John and Robert Kennedy

Who I'd like to meet: Nelson Mandela. I've also been asked recently which five people (living, dead or fictional) I'd invite to dinner. I chose Nelson Mandela (of course), Robert Kennedy, Bette Midler, Yoda and Stephen Hawking.
Hi Arch! Thanks for the add! Swing by the website and check out what our Trackers have been up to this week.
electionTracker puts young Australians on the media trail with Rudd and Howard during the 2007 election. Find out what really happens when the news cameras stop recording!
hey there arch, just wondering, could you help us out with a pre selection? i'd prefer a safe labor seat, but if you can only get me a safe liberal, thats ok. I reckon i can sway them my way easily ;-) cheers mate, Adrian
The issues that keep me awake nights are Education and child welfare.
Education needs to be free again, not just for the privileged few or those willing to indenture their souls to pay for the hope of a brighter future. And the Austudy system desperately needs to be redesigned. I tried going to university as a mature age student and had to drop out or starve. Austudy is well below newstart, much of it is a loan that has to be repaid, and there’s no rental assistance. Maybe that works for students living with guardians, but I’m a divorcee approaching 40. Jobs for those in my age bracket with little formal education and few skills are few and far between. The only chance I have of a better job (which would pay higher taxes) is free education, and a fair Austudy system. Once we used to be called the clever country, we could be again.
Child welfare. There are so many Australian children living in the most awful situations because child welfare agencies have neither the man power nor the legal power to get them out. Some cases go on for years. I’ve got four nephews and a niece living with heroin addicted parents, rarely going to school, being fed a diet almost solely of rice. Being taught how to deal drugs and to steal, being left for hours to fend for themselves, and verbally abused when there’s no drugs available for their parents. This has continued for seven years, how much longer should they have to live like that? The two youngest are brain damaged from the heroin their mother used when she was pregnant with them. Their mother is already planning the next one for the baby bonus. Theirs is not a unique situation by any means.
The Liberals have proven that they’re incapable of getting those sort of problems dealt with. Do you think your government can do better?
Thanks for the add!! Good luck with the campaign for 07 and give me a yell if you need extra help in the campaign for returning Brisbane again to Labor at the Ballot Box... Good to see you on MySpace for the race in 07.
