ARCHONS shifted it into gear circa 2004 in San Diego, California. Having risen from the ashes of the Seattle band Sludgeplow, ARCHONS rhythm section features Scott Driscoll on drums and Chad Hartgrave on bass. Jeff Doom rounds out the sound on guitar, coming from such Kansas City bands as the Hearers, Transdimensional Doorway and Erfmen. All originally from the Great Plains, ARCHONS now rock it up and down the West Coast, offering an original, uncompromising Heavy Sound set to a Bad-Ass, Fiery Beat. Having recorded their first EP in the hallowed halls of San Diego’s Casbah, the band is now saddling up for a Spring ’06 recording session at Merriam Shoals Studios, with Dr. David Moore twisting the knobs. Soon to re-release the Merriam Shoals EP with extra tunes on Bloated Goat Records, Archons is slated to return to a recording chamber in Los Angeles this September with Toshi Kasai helping set the controls for the heart of the sun.

What a wonderful array of hard core banging last night at The Tower; my ears still hurt or is that the booze that's making me feel that way. Thanks for the good time.
Hey Chad i can always tell your sub sonic intensity.. the band sounds great! glad i found ya. take care. shawn... p.s. i got the Everything tape and a live tape with crimson and clover! ..so cool
I am never gonna make it to SD and i respect creative differences, and i hate to Sludge up the past, but i just want to say that "Turned Earth" is one of the defining moments of my life. I partied at the apartment above Golden Oldies a few times. I was lucky enough to find a digital transcription of this hallmark on the internet, which i am burning to cd as i type (please dont sue for copy right infringement) I grew up on Modus Vevendi and Sludgeplow at Gabes, 17 years old, purple dragon egg acid trips and the Shelly Blairstown "3 bucks 4 bands 5 keg" parties. I get goose bumps on my arms listening to the doom metal shit you laid down on "Turned Earth". Jeff, Chris, and Pete is an all time classic line up. I put "Turned Earth" on par with "Dirt" by AIC and "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath. One of the greatest of all time. I still have the green cassette tape of "Turned Earth" that blew out the speakers in my moms Escort. You were ten years ahead of your time. Much love from the 319
Saw you guys awhile back at The Tower Bar. Good damn rock dammit! One question though. Specifically, how would you describe the influence of 'Aquarium Grade Plywood' on your music and even your lives/lifestyles?
