About me: AIDS-Related Community Services (ARCS) is the largest organization solely dedicated to providing HIV/AIDS services to people in New York's Hudson Valley region. It was founded in 1983 by a small group of lesbian and gay citizens who refused to stand idly by in the face of government inaction as this disease devastated those they loved. Since then, the Agency has grown to service the needs of over 25,000 community members annually through our locations in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties. A professional and caring staff provides quality case management, client advocacy, emergency assistance, education, outreach, and prevention for adults, children, and families, as well as the general community. We believe in building partnerships with clients to guide them, and give them the information they need to make informed decisions for themselves.
Who I'd like to meet: Neighbors, community groups, and businesses who’d like to join us in our mission to care for those affected by HIV/AIDS and to prevent the spread of HIV in the Hudson Valley.

Hello everyone! We're thrilled to announce that Primetime, the GLBT nightclub in Highland, is hosting a BBQ and tea dance for us after the New Paltz Gay Pride festival! Proceeds will benefit the Hudson Valley AIDS Walk! As you can see in the comment below, it starts at 4 pm and goes until who knows when. Hey there! Though we love everyone at PrimeTime and we totally support their efforts to fight AIDS, I just wanted to point out that their AIDS fundraiser doesn't directly support ARCS. Their fundraiser on the 20th supports AIDS Walk New York, which benefits GMHC and a slew of other agencies...but sadly, not ARCS! Hopefully the guys and girls at PrimeTime will host a similar night for us to benefit our Hudson Valley AIDS Walk! However, I think it's fantastic that they're being so proactive and public about their desire to fight the spread of HIV!
