His journey took him inland to the deepest, darkest depths of Birmingham where exhausted he finally settled for a vacant cochlea. Now carrying a human around was quite some slog but Marek was strong. As luck would have it Marek and the human got along famously bonding over a love of music encompassing Tortoise, Hood, Slint, Animal Collective, Anticon label, Four Tet, Prefuse 73, Supersilent and beyond. Marek, who had a natural gift for rhythm inherent from the sea’s waves and the human (well, he was relatively talentless but it’s hard for a Hermit Crab alone to get a gig in the city) formed Arc Vel, creating electronica with an emphasis on loose rhythms, natural sounds, melodic phrases and fits of the polar opposite.
