Biography:
Pete Wainwright, artist, songwriter, producer and musician teamed up with Steven Volante, guitarist, podcaster and songwriter to create Ardent Octopus. Longstanding band members, Wainwright and Volante, released their first album in January 2010. They've welcomed fans by playing clubs in South Florida with drummer James "Jim" Mader (Smeared Jam), keyboard player Robert Theo Noll and other musicians. Wainwright's extensive musical background includes singing, guitar and bass. Prior to picking up the guitar he played piano and viola. Volante enjoys playing guitar, both acoustic and electric as well as slide guitar and ukulele. Currently, Ardent Octopus features a unique YouTube video with well over 2 million views of Steve playing slide guitar. Additionally, Pete and Steve enjoy producing entertaining podcasts that feature their music. The Ardent Octopus podcasts are an adventure into their world--a window into the psychi of Pete and Steve. Every podcast features an underlying song from collection of music, each providing a venue for your imagination to further explore Ardent Octopus. Their second album was released in the Fall of 2011. A third album is on it's way.Influences:
Some of Wainwright’s modern day influences come from Pink Floyd, Beatles, Bob Dylan and Pat Metheny. He also has an appreciation for classical composers like Beethoven and Rachmaninoff; Volante’s influences are steeped in blues and bluegrass with an interest in Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Procol Harum and Dave Grisman. The lyrical side of Ardent Octopus has depth, painting a Dali-like imagery that captures the imagination. The musical talent has an acoustic-electric feel that pulls you in, to a world joined by the songwriting and music of Pete and Steve.Music for the mind . . . as the Ardent Octopus was the only one of it's kind.
