Lots of awesome sh*t...
Sounds Like
Combining the sultry vocals of Natalie Merchant/10,000 Maniacs, with the world influence of The Police, and universal appeal of Sheryl Crowe, Area 44 continues to push the songwriting envelope, capitalizing on the plethora of influences and talent each member beings to the table.
Hello! We are Area 44. We play music that will make you want to sing with
your friends driving with the top down in the summer, or help you shed a
tear over a lost love. Our music is devoid of the latest trends of the
hipsters, instead we rely on a foundation of great song writing, honest
lyrics, and awesome musicianship. We play music that anyone can relate to and we are never exclusionary as we want everyone to enjoy themselves through our music.
The music that you are jamming to now was made in collaboration with the
talented Humberto Reboredo (and is available at iTunes, cdbaby.com, &
rhapsody.com). We are also currently in the studio recording a new cd
which better reflects our more up-beat, rock out, dance your ass off live
sound. Of course the polished radio sound is great too, but we want to give
you a little taste of everything.
Our band is:
Jamie Weisberg, our fun-lovin' front gal, is on the mic delivering to you that warm voice that lets you melt away with her lyrics. Jamie has been at it since the age of seven and
has done vocal work on television/radio commercials such as Hallmark, My Little Pony (c'mon that's pretty cool), Burger King, McDonalds, and Oreo cookies, movie sounds tracks like "Bustin' Loose" starring Richard Pryor, and she also has recorded with Duran Duran, Roberta Flack, Livingston Taylor, and Yoko Ono. When Jamie’s not on stage, writin’ new tunes, recording in the studio, or bustin’ on her band mates, you can find her diggin’ the music scene around town. Come and join her!
Rob Kudyba is on guitar and vocals, and heavily involved in the songwriting and arranging for the band. Having played previously in NY-based bands Great Jones and Arthur Kill, Rob hails from Hartford, CT, and studied with jazz greats Richard Johnston and Jackie McLean at the Hartt School. He brings a passion for performing, juggling various musical endeavors as well as working for a music and arts education center.
The undeniable Mark Manczuk on the drums & percussion who knows that you can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket. (Bio coming soon!!!)
On the bass we have Dave Smith who is also the newest addition to the group.
Dave came from a musical family and attended the Conservatory of Music at
Cincinnati for jazz bass studies, but left to go on tour we he realized he
didn't want to play in wedding bands. Dave plays/has played for several
great groups... The Volunteers, System Noise, The Nillaz (warp tour 05),
Lost Tricks, Trouble is, The Moo Boo band, Bigfan, and many others. Dave is bored
so go ahead and drop him a line.
We primarily play in and around NYC so keep on the lookout for us. We have
played such places as Pianos, CBGB's Gallery, The Delancey, Corio The Underscore, and The Living Room in NYC. Cousin Larry's in Danbury, CT. Munchaba Lounge in Levittown, NY. We are also super down to play private acoustic shows at your place. We love meeting new people, and listening to where people are coming from on anything from music to politics to new jokes. Send us a message, leave a comment, and tell some
friends... We hope to see you soon!
