Influences
Our main influences are without a doubt AC/DC, Santana and Guns n' Roses. Others include Bon Jovi, Kaiser Chiefs, Green Day, Star Sailor, Thin Lizzy, Rolling Stones, Hendrix, U2, Dire Straits, Beatles, and many more that unfortunately have skipped our mind...it comes with age...!!
Sounds Like
We are profoundly a Covers Band, when gigging in the Pubs and Clubs, but come to one of our gigs and you can decide for yourselves as to who we sound like.
We are currently working on some of our own material to add to our repetoire, for which the CD will be released soon!
Our repetoire consists of varying hits from the 60's right up to modern day. Some examples are:
Sultans of Swing, Look Back in Anger, Brown Sugar, Sweet Home Alabama, Don't leave me baby, Poor Misguided Fool, I Predict a Riot, Knocking on Heavens Door, Vertigo, Basket Case, Sweet Child O' Mine, Living on Prayer, Highway to Hell, Black Magic Woman, Whiskey in A Jar, Brown Eyed Girl, Smooth plus many more...
Area 51 have been doing the pubs and clubs circuit for about 7 years, with many ups and downs through the years (if any of you have seen the film Spinal Tap, you'll understand what we mean!)
With John on Drums, and Stefan on Bass, being the only two original members left standing. Many changes of personnel have occurred over the years for differing reasons (must be due to the huge amounts of sex and drugs that come with playing in a band! Haha). But at last we seem to have found our other two band members who can put up with our varying musical tastes and tantrums.
Now we are a settled bunch (fingers crossed!) with Joe and Sam on board, we are now gigging futher afield but often get lost. So if you see some blokes with Amps and guitars filling up thier cars looking lost and confused, please give us some directions!!
So grab your Air Guitars and turn 'em up full blast and come and jam along with us at one of our gigs!
