UPDATE 8.12.09:
Greetings from your NON-DENOMINATIONAL record label!
Drizzled today here in Portland, Oregon. First rain in 28 days. Go figure. We have a summer too!
So amazing to get the new issue of UNCUT through the mail slot today and see a full-page, 5-out-of-5 review of the new Richmond Fontaine release! Here's to little victories!
The Boggs 'Forts' LPs are here! Click here to purchase this excellent release that includes the CD inside!
Here's to Joel Ryan Brandon for his design expertise on loan to ARRCO over the past year. Joel is talented-as-F*CK. However, we find it funny that he sounds 'Bay-Area' even though he's from HERE and only lived THERE for a short period of time.
Kelly Blair Bauman sees the release of his debut 'Gomorrah' in October. If you like Ryan Adams or Gram Parsons (and you should dig both), you'll love this amazing new talent from our neck of the woods. Bauman has a penchant for great songwriting and drinking whiskey.
STIFFWIFF is the project of our wonderful pal, Todd Corbett (along with a revolving cast of characters), who's busy recording a 2nd STIFFWIFF release. In the meantime, the first release, 'Un', will soon be available on CD w/ 2 extra tracks.
Saudade (pruh-noun-sussed 'SO-DODGY') will issue their mind-altering debut on ARRCO later this year. Wroom are psyched to have like-minded-mind-altering stuff within the family. See also: The Ecclesia.
D.L.Sparks is Daniel Sparks. A debut is in-the-making. If Bono lent guest vocals to Jeff Buckley's 'Grace', you'd have an idea of what's to come from Mr. Sparks.
I'm about to open up a can of 'Alabama Whup-Ass' on any other U.K. publication that doesn't give our good friends, The Twang, their proper respects (or at least a proper review). Since when does making feel-good music sans-a-white-belt have to be such a bad thing, huh? We love 'em and raise a few 'Rosemary's Foamies' in their honor. WHO WANTS SOME???!!!
Solex's Elisabeth Esselink is collaborating with Cristina Martinez and Jon Spencer. Look for an early 2010 release on ARRCO.
The House of Love were a great band from the late '80s that you may have forgotten about (or never known about!). We're going to remind you with a couple of re-issues real soon.
Michael Carlucci of the criminally-underrated band, Winter Hours, is working with us to help get one of the best 'Americana' records of all-time....BACK IN PRINT.
Pilot To Gunner have finished their 3rd long-player, or so I'm told by the band's Pat Hegarty.
Frontier(s) are recording their debut with Kevin Ratterman in Louisville, KY. Look for it next year.
Carnival Season and The Primitons re-issues in 2010! Two great bands from my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama get the deluxe treatment (remastered, bonus tracks, liner notes, etc.) on CD.
Highway Robbery is the moniker of Calla's Wayne Magruder. We are proud to be issuing this gorgeous project from the man I always referred to as the 'mad scientist' of Calla.
Sabertooth will see their 'Old Days & The Island' released in Spain. This release was originally LP-only but we should have some limited copies on CD in the near future.
Also, barring any acts of 'God' or 'Wall Street' we will be issuing a collection of works from the acclaimed artist Steve Scott in early 2010.
All for now...
Greg w/ Teresa and the cats (Kudzu, Lyla, Dixie, & Genesis)
