ARESHA HAS MOVED TO MYSPACE.COM/OINKARESHA's Blurbs
About me: profile views
From a 14 year old road show DJ with a faulty turntable to representing Singapore for the internationally renowned Red Bull Music Academy in 2007; Aresha's definitely known within the Asian circuits for her feisty personality in music. Named one of Singapore's Top 30 under 30 by the national newspaper The Straits Times in 2008 , there's no stopping this little five foot two lass.
Her adventures down the musical map started out at the age of 10, when she first laid ears on electro punk band, The Prodigy. Months of lunch money and a trip to the neighbourhood CD store was all it took.
Spending most of her scholastic time in detention for playing 'firestarter' and Zed Bias's 'neighbourhood' instead hymns over the school P.A system “was worth the detention time” in her strict girls school days. Her leaving examination year was hardly about books as she spent time pitching a dance night to a round table of nuns. At 16, she held and DJed at her first event in her school hall with eight subs for the 400 strong crowd.
At age 19, entrepreneurial lass formed star drum and bass promoter collective TherapyAsia in 2003. She began managing Asian tours for A-list drum and bass producers in order to help further, challenge and inspire young budding Asian artists and producers in the industry.
Working with regional collectives in Malaysia, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan and Korea, she has since hosted with some of the biggest names in the drum and bass industry such as London Elektricity, Logistics, A-sides, Dieselboy and Nu:Tone.
Determined to continually put Asia in the electronic music spotlight, she guest writes feature articles on Asia for various music publications around the world, including a drum and bass publication based in the UK titled Knowledge Magazine.
DJing is a lighthearted affair focused on bringing sounds of leftfield, IDM, dubstep, jungle and drum and bass with as loops of Asian folk drums and comedy singers. It has blessed her with gigs in various countries around the world. She was also the first Asian participant from the Academy to be invited to play at the Sonar 2008 Festival in Barcelona, Spain.
Locally, she has performed with collectives such as Subvert, Guerrilla, BedstyMusic and PopMyCherry in clubs like Zouk, DXO, Home Club and Ministry of Sound.
Most recent involvements include Formula 1 Singapore and Asia On The Edge's Festival for The Arts House. Her current live act comprises of local percussion prodigy, Riduan Zalani and MC Sleepwalker.
Having failed miserably at the piano, she is also an avid percussionist, performing live on various ethnic and orchestral drums for major national events in Singapore such as Chingay and the National Day Parade.
As the eccentric personality that she is, she is currently trying to figure out production software to move away from her horrid bedroom rapping skills. If that fails to work out, she will learn fire-breathing and juggling skills to keep with the changing times.

Hello everybody. A new mix made by Artihc for Foundation KL - The Expansion Pack. ‘Patiens’ is presented very much like a tapestry of minimalistic tunes that are surtured together with delicate, pin-point accuracy and progressively bound by elements that are deep, techy and downright pulsating to the bone. So what are you waiting for? Click, Listen and Enjoy. Feedback and comments are welcome. Peace.
