Persistence is the word to describe the journey of Colourblind, a four-piece hailing from the isolated city of Perth consisting of Jamie Smiddy (lead vocal), Steven Moore (guitars, backing vocal), Michael De Abreu (drums, backing vocals) and Chris Chen (bass, backing vocal) armed with a sound described as a blend of chest-resonating guitars mixed in with strong heartfelt melodies and intricate drum patterns. Shaking the foundations of your typical rock act, Colourblind constantly pushes the depths of musical exploration and beyond, while still maintaining fresh and original. Colourblind’s strength lies in their diversity, with each song evolving through different styles, sounds and textures. Although being fun and exciting to watch, Jamie’s melodies are emotively built around a life story, painting a search for direction in life and depicting and shedding light over the reality of human nature.
2009 saw Colourblind stepping into the studio to record their full length debut and first official release with acclaimed producer Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect) and mentoree Malcolm Besley in Melbourne at Salt Studios and at the famous Sing Sing South as well as various locations in their own hometown of Perth. A release date is anticipated for late 2010.
Hey there, we are playing two shows next week with ‘The Scissor File’ from Melbourne. the first on Thursday at mojos in freo with: the scissor file and ‘colour the sky’
and the second on Saturday at hq(that means its all ages) with: boys boys boys! the scissor file colour the sky and ‘epicFAIL!
