Popmusik ist gut, wenn sie Antworten gibt. Popmusik ist hervorragend, wenn sie Fragen stellt. So wie die Band Are You Great, die ihre Frage bereits im Namen trägt.

Sind sie großartig?

Natürlich. Die Band hat eine Aura von Größe, ohne abgehoben zu sein. Sie klingen tanzbar, zeitgemäß und euphorisch. Und doch schwingt auch immer eine Nachdenklichkeit mit, die sie von so vielen anderen Bands unterscheidet. Are You Great sind der Soundtrack zu einer Nacht, nach der man aufwacht und vom Tanzen Blasen an den Füßen hat, im Mund noch den Nachgeschmack von zu vielen Martinis und in Gedanken die vage Erinnerung an schöne Dinge, die verflossen sind.

„Times are changing“ singt Edi Linn im Song „Clockwork“ – und es ist mehr als ein Bob Dylan Zitat. Es beschreibt den Weg einer Band, die nach X gemeinsamen Jahren bei dem Sound angekommen ist, der ihnen am besten steht: Britische Melodien treffen auf tanzbaren Beat, und kluge Pop-Arrangements. Im Song „Anthem for the kings“ gibt es einen Refrain, der so bezaubernd funkelt wie eine Diskokugel aus abgebrochenen Mercedes-Sternen. Man will diese Band bejubeln und ihr immer
wieder sagen:

Pop music is fantastic when it answers as well as ask questions. The band “Are You Great” provides both.

With an aura more of swagger than arrogance, they make music that moves not only the body but the soul. as well. “Are You Great” is the soundtrack for that one night in your life when you wake up with blisters from dancing, the taste of too many Martinis lingering, and hazy memories of so many things that are gone as quickly as they arrived.

Someone once described the sound of Anthem For The Kings as "a disco-ball made of broken off Mercedes emblems twinkling under a spotlight".
