A Holiday celebrating the awesomeness that is the Kitteh! Yeah! Wez hope there is a Day for Dogs too! And Chinchillas and Birds and Turtles! So all our furriends can celebrate a day just for them. The Jesusita Fire in Santa Barbara this year, caused these two to take shelter together. The fawn is about 3 days old and the bobcat about 3 weeks. They immediately bonded and snuggled together under a desk in the Santa Barbara County Dispatch Office for several hours.
Animal Planet is reporting the bobcat kitten was rescued near Arnold Schwarzenegger's ranch, where it was dehydrated and near death. They rescued the fawn during the wildfire. Although wild animals, especially of separate species, are never placed together due to regulations, in this emergency situation, they had no choice. During the mayhem of the fire, they were forced to put animals anywhere they could, since they had run out of crates large enough for the fawn. The kitten ran to the fawn, and it was instant bonding.
Update: Stray black dog who's friend was murdered by hit & run truck
Pictures I took today 10/22 Thurs. of the stray black dog whose best friend, another black male dog was purposely run over & killed by someone in a white truck couple months ago in front of me & this dog who lost the only living thing he ever let near him. I took the pics through my front window screen, he's a lot further than it looks.
He's eating a bowl of kibbles & bits in front my house, always takes the food out the bowl & puts it on the ground before eating it. We built a cover over the bowl so the food doesn't spoil in rain, still won't come in garage to eat.
Little guy's gone underground, we think he stays under a small bridge that goes over a running stream that's partly on our property. He still hangs out in the cow pasteur across the road too. My husband says there's small hollow caves, nooks & crannies where he can protect himself from bad weather under the bridge.
He's not skinny anymore & is eating the food we put out for him daily. We still try to coax him but he runs like a wild coyote, he's become wilder.
momz saw a woolly worm today. the old wives tale is if the worms stripe is short, then short easy winter. But if long stripe, long hard winter. well this fuzzy worm was short wif a LONG stripe in deh middle. DOH!! Indiana has harsh winters sometimes. momz doesn't want to believe dat olde woolly worm. guess we will see. MWAH! your weet
