Formed two years ago in Rayleigh, Essex by schoolfriends Mark, Matt, Dean & Mark, Sublingual Records resident post-rock noisesters Argelico quickly got through a succession of drummers (including Steve Weston of fellow Sublingual band The Nurse Who Loved Me), before Dave made them an offer they couldn't refuse and the defintive Argelico line-up was born.
Argelico create beautiful, almost fragile music, with delicate guitar melodies at one moment seemingly fighting for space and then joining together perfectly the next. On the other hand, Argelico also rock...like the proverbial bastards! Just as their soundscapes are burrowing further into your mind they can explode into a raging, storming climax a la GY!BE or Isis.
They aim to make music that you can see aswell as hear, and by this they mean tapping into the intrinsically filmic nature of post-rock. Whilst their songs all have a definite meaning or idea behind them, Argelico aren't afraid to let the listener create their own idea's or images about each song, and, in a musical age where so many people are force-fed bands and told what they should think about music by a select few 'taste-makers', that is a refreshing proposition indeed. ............................................................................Sublingual Records, 2005.

My debut EP entitled 'Snow Cover', is out NOW on Rednetic Recordings. Hurrah!
'An EP of glacial beat structures carved from ice using found sounds and recordings from a mini disc recorder. These are enhanced by the beautifully constructed crystalline melodies that build and flow around the beats. As winter approaches Hybernation is the perfect solution.'
It’s available from the very nice people at http://www.rednetic.com http://www.u-cover.com in Europe and http://www.n5md.com in the US/Canada. I'll also be playing a few gigs in the UK to promote it including the launch party on 7th Dec at The Sun Rooms in Southend-on-Sea. Hope to see you there :o) Stu
Can't make the 27th unfortunately as it's Essex Rocks' gig at Riga, but there should be a mention of the last gig in the next issue. Will keep an eye on your gig dates though as I'd like to go to another. The CD reviewed a while back was a 1 track sampler taken from the Sublingual records stall at a gig about a year ago and given to a contributor to review, don't think it had a song title on the CD! Sophia

We like to rock. We like to rock it hard. We like to rock it so hard that it hurts. We like to rock it so hard that it hurts so much that there's pain. We like to rock it so hard that it hurts so much that there's so much pain that it feels like we're being crushed by something very heavy. Like a rock. A really really heavy rock. A big big one. A rock. We love to rock.
Well to answer to your last comment (sorry for the delay) i'm alone, it's a personnal project (not exactly a band ^^), so glad you like it !
