Arhai is project founded 1998 by composer and singer Jovana Backovic. It begun as acoustic ensemble, but, as time passed, it grown to group consisting of 9 musicians,six instrumentalists and three female singers, which performed on the first release "Mysterion". This sound was almost purely acoustic, as it embodies fusion of ambient sound and traditional music of the Balkans.
At this moment, second release is in process of recording, first demo recordings will be available on myspace to listen.
Due to specific fusion of influences coming from different music traditions, Arhai is usually listed within the broad genre of world music.
