With her single “Spend Ya Money” already spinning in heavy rotation across the nation and burning up the radio airwaves, Mika Means is a rare gift set to revitalize the music and entertainment industries with a new look and sound. Edgy, sultry, and sexy are just a few words that describe the looks and sound of this extraordinarily talented singer/songwriter, rapper and phenomenal dancer. Although she recently inked a multi-layered, multi-million dollar deal as an artist and brand with Universal/Motown in less than 15 minutes of meeting with legendary label head Sylvia Rhone, Mika Means is by no way a music industry newcomer. Having positioned herself for success through songwriting and dancing for a myriad of today’s stars, Mika Means’ time is now. As she embarks on her on solo career, Mika brings you more than a new sound that she coins “Mika Music,” Mika Means is bringing you an everlasting brand!
With lyrics like “I know you wanna cut, but I just wanna spend your money...” Mika Means boldly expresses the underlining thoughts of what most females want to say but never have the guts to express in her single “Spend Ya Money.” Self-described as a “sexy tomboy,” Mika injects a dose of reality into each of her songs and melodically packages them with a clever punch. When the Atlanta native, born Tamika Means, was introduced to Universal A&R Ray Daniels, he immediately saw Mika’s undeniable potential and set up a meeting between Mika and Sylvia Rhone. Thus, it was only after 5 minutes of meeting Mika Means and after listening to a song and a half that Sylvia Rhone was exclaiming, “call the law department!” Mika is diligently working on her upcoming release and has commissioned production by Catalyst, Willy Will, French Spencer, Mr. D.J and the legendary artist/producer Kwame–to name a few. Uncontrived, full of energy, and mildly controversial, Mika Means draws comparisons to one of the world’s most iconic superstars – as she is reminiscent of a new-aged Hip Hop Madonna.
Mika has always been ambitious and never been one to wait for success to fall in her lap. Trained from a young age in musical theater and having toured many states across the USA with the Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, Mika discovered her love for music – which set the pace for her very successful future today. She quickly formed a female singing/rap group trio and began writing and producing music in order to get her group a demo and a shot at a record deal. However, the group dissolved but that did not discourage Ms. Means. She has been penning hits and gaining writing experience alongside the likes of several of the industry’s current music stars, including Kelis and Lloyd. As a dancer, Mika has danced her way into into Jay-Z’s video for his single “Show Me What You Got” and onto the CW network show “Hip-Hop Hold ‘Em.” Mika continued writing and recording on her own until she met up with D.Woods of Danity Kane and Shanell aka SNL. Currently Mika, D. Woods, and Shanell are “The Girls Club.” Forming what they describe as a female replica of the Wu Tang Clan, they began writing together for their individual projects and for other art¬ists. Together they have penned hits for Lil Wayne, Mya, Usher, 3LW, One Chance, and Danity Kane along with super producers Bangladesh and Polow da Don.
Mika Means is prepared to take the world by storm. She possesses what Sylvia Rhone calls “an amazing presence” and is what Sylvia further describes as “a true star.” Mika Means is a truly creative visionary that sings, raps, and writes all of her own material. She is an entertainer in every right and dances and performs like a true professional. Already breaking the mold of standards and set to top the charts, Mika Means is breath of fresh air. Her confidence is sexy, her appearance is edgy, and Mika’s fearless attitude of expression is like that of a superhero. “I’m not trying to be what someone wants me to be. I just have a lot to say and I ain’t afraid to say it…even if it is politically incorrect. I want my music to inspire and transform beyond typical perception and I want to empower young girls and people…giving them the confidence to know that you can truly accomplish whatever you put your mind to,” she says.
Thinking and speaking outside the box is not uncommon for Mika Means. Her stamp of creativity is evident on anything she touches. Influenced by a varied affinity of artists ranging from Quincy Jones and Babyface to Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado, Mika’s eclectic musical tastes gives her a platform to create an unparalleled sound. Very visually stimulating in every way, Mika Means is mesmerizing. She sees the world through a very unique eye and has future plans to explore her talents in fashion, filmmaking, and television directing. Therefore, don’t be surprised should you see one of her over the top videos and see Mika’s name listed in the credits for creative direction. The possibilities are limitless as Mika brings to life the crux of her imagination and it is clearly evident that Mika means business!
AR HITS: FEATURED PRODUCER --VEGAZZ--
I give you me and only me, that’s all I can give! Those are words that give me the strength to do music. Born Gabriel Tyrone Mathis A.K.A. Vegaz. Music was never my first choice of a career but it was always in the blood. My early musical influences were like every other kid growing up in a single black household, soulfulrhythm and blues artists pouring their hearts out over great melody’s, established musicians and a whole life of pain. I’m what people would, call a dreamer; I could make the most outrageous stories and make them seem real. So with that my life was headed for something in the arts (film books, commercials, etc…). But something changed in me when I was introduced to this thing called hip-hop.
Hip hop changed the way I saw things, it was young cats saying things that I could relate to. The music was soulful but at the same time raw. The snapping of loud snares, the thickness of the bass lines and vocals that had distress of young kids trying to change their lives for the better. That moved me more than the glamour of it all. Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth with “T.R.O.Y.”, music that had meaning. That beat, with cracking drums and deep bass. That lit the fire in this young kid trying to find out where he fit. With the rawness of the east coast street sound and the soulful arrangements of R&B artists and my own pain, this is where I needed to be. I wanted to create great arrangements, tell my stories and let my voice be heard too! Most importantly paint my emotions sincerely.
My journey begins, working, saving money, asking mom for money and stashing it. Working on my first drum machine, going to my first studio session, writing my first song. High school became my battle ground, battling M.C.’s, beating on tables and performing in talent shows. Every day passing, I became more and more confident abut what I was doing. I’m doing the right thing. As a freshman in high school I was introduced to D.J. Toomp (producer for hits for T.I), by my cousin. He took me under his wing and shoed me how to operate the young generation version of a guitar, “AKA M.P.C. Workstations”. Sampling drums, looping records, sequencing songs and counting bars everything that was taught to me by a local hero. Through time of meeting more people in the music industry and a couple of bad deals gone sour, I was able to manage to work with the likes of Lil Jon, Trillville, George Clinton, Jazze Pha, Bone Crusher, Chyna Whyte, Jim Crow, Dirty Boys, Young Joc, etc. A local country boy on a quest not to be the greatest, but on the road to being the best he could be. A well rounded producer who could adapt and appreciate music as a whole.

MySpace To Launch Widget for TV
By Mike Shields, Mediaweek
MySpace is looking to make watching the tube a lot more social.
The News Corp.-owned social networking giant has announced plans to launch MySpace Widget for TV, an application which essentially will serve as a mini version of the popular site that consumers access from the televisions. The MySpace Widget in being launched in conjunction with Toshiba, which is promoting a new line of TVs powered by Intel chips that are designed to connect to the Internet -- a practice that to date has had little appeal to most Americans.
However, Toshiba, Intel and others are pushing Web-connected TVs this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. As part of the MySpace Widget for TV announcement, Intel and Yahoo have unveiled plans for a Widget Channel that would feature a host of mini-Internet applications geared for couch potatoes.
As for MySpace's widget, the company said that much like the Web site, users would be able to message back and forth with friends, send and receive status updates to their various social circles, view profiles and photos. Executives at News Corp. predicted that the widget would be particularly appealing to viewers of live events - such as facilitating trash-talking among sports fans or helping fans campaign for the favorite contestants on American Idol.
"We're giving our users an entirely new way to easily enjoy, share and access MySpace content through the new MySpace experience for TV," says Jason Oberfest, MySpace's VP of business development and general manager of MySpaceID. "We believe in our open platform that delivers interactive, social applications and [that] empower[s] our users to access their MySpace network, while also enjoying TV, [and] we continue to provide new and unique ways keep them engaged and connected."
Lil Kim Not Happy With Biggie Biopic
Lil Kim was a big part of the Notorious B.I.G.'s life, but she's not happy about the way she's portrayed in the new biopic about the late rapper.
The Notorious B.I.G. was Lil Kim's mentor and was also romantically linked to the rapper. Their sometimes rocky relationship is depicted in the new movie "Notorious," but Lil Kim doesn't think it's very accurate.
In a statement, she said: "The film studio and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a 'character' to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with talent, self-respect and who was able to achieve her own career success through hard work."
She added: "Even though my relationship with Big was at times very difficult and complicated (as with most relationships we have all experienced at one time or another), it was also genuine and built on great admiration and love for each other. Regardless of the many lies in the movie and false portrayal of me to help carry a story line through, I will still continue to carry his legacy through my hard work and music."
But Wallace's mother, Voletta Wallace, dismissed Lil Kim's criticisms of the movie.
"This is not a Lil Kim movie," she said. "This is a Christopher Wallace movie. It has nothing to do with Lil Kim. If she's disappointed and upset, that is her problem."
At the film's New York premiere last week, "Notorious" screenwriter Cheo Hodari Coker said he understands why Lil Kim might not like the film, but added: "I think that Naturi [Naughton] did a great job playing Kim. I think people are going to be a lot more sympathetic towards [Lil Kim] after seeing the movie."
Wayne Barrow, Biggie's former manager and a producer on the movie, expressed less patience with Kim's attitude.
"Our job as producers... was to deliver for three individuals," he said. "That's his mom and his two children. Everybody else: Stand in line, buy a ticket and enjoy the show."
"Notorious" chronicles the life and untimely death of the Notorious B.I.G., who was shot to death in 1997 and remains one of rap's most important figures. It opens in theaters this Friday.
